That was San Onofre. IIRC, They had a problem with some cooling stuff (heat exchanger) and rather than just repair what was there, they designed a “better” one. Unfortunately, it had harmonic problems and was failing much quicker than the original. Rather than fixing again, the operator elected to shut down. Diablo was going to shut down because that’s what Gruesome Nuisance (sometimes misspelled Gavin Newsom) wanted and was pushing the CA agencies to force. PG&E brass decided to cave and not fight it.
