Guys, stop throwing rocks at this dude. Unless he edited his OP after the fact, you're all yelling at him for saying exactly what you're saying.

To echo another OP - my WMLs are relegated to HD duty, it's about the only time they'd be used. I live alone, no kids, maybe two extra keys out to third parties.

If I hear noises, I'm investigating, and doing so with my WML. If Larry from down the street is in my kitchen and gets a light pointed at him, that happens to be attached to a loaded firearm, that's the least of his worries.

There's nothing in my yard worth dying for, or for that matter, killing for.

in my own fenced in yard I use my weaponlight everywhere else I use my HHL.
but I think this is coming from a thread on AR15 of the shooting involving 4 attackers that happened in seconds.
in the intal attack 2 citizens were walking back from the local convenience store when 2 attackers ran up and started firing on them. one defender opened fire but it was hard for him to see his targets as they were all dressed in black.

this is what got me to order a x400 ultra with laser for my EDC

My experience is weapon mounted lights are extremely popular with the concealed carry crowd.

But they are about a useless add on for the majority because people have no expectation of knowing how to use them.

I’ve never understood WML for concealed carry, especially given the lack of training and false expectations of what the concealed carry job is.

But to each their own to spend their money however they wish. We are lucky we talk about using guns far more than we actually use them.

I have been legally carrying concealed for over 30 years and I have used my CW several times to stop violent attacks on others as well as potential attacks on myself and family. after watching the video that was posted on another forum of 2 people that had trained with weapons including stress training I recognized the need to add a WML to my concealed carry.

in the case of that attack the armed citizen and his friend had to run for cover while being fired on by two attackers dressed in all black while hiding in the dark. the defender had no way of knowing if he rounds were going towards his attackers. in the second part of the attack 2 more attackers were waiting outside his home behind a stolen truck but he engaged those shooters with an AR15 pistol after being fired on.

had he had WML on either of his two weapons he would have done a better job of stopping the attackers

Many are quite powerful and have different intensities. They also free your hands for whatever task you have.

I keep one in each vehicle as well as at home.

putting a light on your head is a sure way to draw fire from an armed attacker, fine for raccoons and coyotes but you should be shooting and moving to cover to avoid being shot.

Ummmmm.....I think he was talking about using a headlamp for something like changing a tire at night, setting up a tent in the dark, ect; not engaging in a fire fight with a headlamp on his head. Hence the words “for general and task lighting.”

sorry I thought he meant in place of a weapon light, so it would not be construed as brandishing

I use a First Light Torq or TMax depending on where I’m going or what I’m doing. It has an emergency beacon that flashes multi colored LED’s that is great for changing a tire. You can rotate the head and lay it facing towards oncoming traffic. It’s designed to be used with a pistol and I’m a big fan since I switched a few years ago.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
