thundersonFemale 7-11 Clerk in Virginia Shoots Robber
This happened a couple of blocks from where I work. Though I haven't heard officially, I believe her firearm was in her vehicle. Perp got the till and then took her to her car to get her personal money. He got something else instead. Local scuttlebutt is that in this case "Multiple" means she shot him more than 4 but less than 6 times.
Scuttlebutt also is that she may now be out of a job due to her idiotic employer. We'll see.

AllenInARThat'd suck.
I wonder if the argument could be made that she was not in possession of her firearm while performing her duties as a clerk, but once she was drug outside to her personal vehicle, she was defending herself, not 7-11.

I don't know, hope so. If she were my employee, I'd give her a paid week off to settle down, a couple hundred bucks to spend on her time off, and big hug.

Not exactly. It used to be, but the motorcycle organizations fought hard to get it changed a few years ago. Now it's illegal when done to conceal one's identity.
http://law.lis.virginia.gov/va...er9/section18.2-422/ and hey, seven eleven, your employee wasn't in the store when she shot the turd, so leave her alone.

thundersonYeah that's just the thing. There are other businesses at that location that also share the parking lot so even more a public area. I think if they do in fact fire her, she would have a pretty good case but what do I know.

Never go willingly to the second crime scene, it almost always means you will be killed.
Better fight for your life at the first one.
Got that right!

It's your right to carry concealed. If company rules disallow it then just be sure that you do a better job concealing.

It's the company's right to set the rules for their business and to fire you for not following them. The point here is she followed the rules and was abducted from the store. At that point company rules don't matter and they shouldn't be able to fire her if it comes to that.

It's not easy to shoot somebody who is threatening you while keeping your gun concealed.

In Louisiana too but there are some exceptions but armed robbery is not one of them

Yep. Exceptions: under 16, costume party, work requirement (e.g. welder), medically required w/ dr's note.
No exception for cold weather nor Aloha.

Good for her. But, as others have already said, she should have just shot him while inside the store.

And if I worked for anyone who canned me for defending myself while being abducted, I would consider it as doing me a favor.

Actually, there is if you read the law. It's covered under the "physical safety" clause. Preventing freezing falls in that area.
(ii) engaged in professions, trades, employment or other activities and wearing protective masks which are deemed necessary for the physical safety of the wearer

That was my first thought. Kahlil...fine young Irish boy.

I don't know. These stories make me all warm and fuzzy. Perhaps I should apply for the midnight shift at the local stop and rob.

I'd argue she wasn't at work. She'd been kidnapped from the building. Once she got to her care she was in no way "at work." I'm certain the 7-11 can't command someone to no have a gun when not at work.

Seems like the Police could add Car Jacking to the arrest.
Anyway Glad she is OK!
