I have several of these and love them. They are the only kind I have tried.

BD storm

This..

Plus Black Diamond has terrific customer support. Got diesel on the strap of one of my Storms on a trip to Haiti. Called them up when I returned and asked if I could buy a new strap (light still worked fine). Instead of selling me a new strap, they sent me an entire new headlamp at no charge.

Bought an OLight H1R a couple months ago and like it. Rechargeable, small, up to 600 lumens, easy to operate, magnetic charging cable.

You can put it on and then put on a baseball cap right over it.

I'm looking to get their H2R, which takes the 18650 battery. Upgraded to 2300 lumens and has a strap over the top.

I want the brighter light capability and almost twice the run time on the same 600 lumen level.

I've got a Petzyl Tikka and a Tikka Plus. They're competent head lamps that sell for around $50.00. I bought two Everready headlamps for $20.00 to give to my grand sons when we went camping. They're held up well, are bright enough for our purposes and I wasn't sad when they lost them. I think it's hard to go wrong in the world of head lamps.

I've converted to 18650 batteries on as many different lights as possible. Nitecore are great. Built like a tank.

I prefer the Fenix HP12 using it at work daily for the past three years, uses 18650 batteries I charge about every 2-3weeks depending on when I remember.

The WOWTAC is a great deal, comes with an 18650 battery that you charge like a cellphone, not as comfy as the Fenix but price is hard to beat. I've read it's made in the same factory as Olight.WOWTAC A2

I've got a Petzl that I was pretty happy with. A few months back there was a similar thread and someone mentioned the Fenix headlamp so I picked one up off Amazon. Amazing light with a buttload of juice. It'll light up 100 yards out. A little on the heavy side, but not so much that it's uncomfortable.

I have a dewalt brand headlamp for work. It is bright enough to see well in dark corners of a parking garage, or up in the tees above the lights. 3 AAA batteries and 30-40 hour runtime. We got these from the dewalt rep so I don’t know where you could buy one. Much better than the energizer I was using.
One thing I don’t worry about is durability since I know eventually it will be covered in concrete, or epoxy.
