Going to be spending a night in Nashville, Tennessee and a night in Montgomery, Alabama ultimately ending up in Tallahassee. I have to have at some point BBQ, and real country ham for breakfast. Can those in the know recommend any restaurants? Thanks. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

Shaffer's Farm Meat and Texas BBQ 4 Vaughn Staggs Rd Summertown, TN Best brisket in these parts. It’s off I65 a bit but worth the detour.

For Nashville, try the Loveless Cafe near the northern terminus of the Natchez Trace. For Montgomery try Dreamland BBQ. The original Dreamland restaurant was a little shack in Tuscaloosa, and I have eaten bbq there, another Tuscaloosa location, two Birmingham locations, Huntsville, and Montgomery. Basically, when travelling through Alabama we always look for an excuse to eat lunch or supper at a Dreamland!

Montgomery: Smokin' "S" or Hog Rock for barbeque, north of town on highway 231 IN Wetumpka. RMD TL Davis: “The Second Amendment is special, not because it protects guns, but because its violation signals a government with the intention to oppress its people…” Remember: After the first one, the rest are free.

We stopped at Peg Leg Porker in Nashville on our way through about 3 years ago. Their ribs and pulled pork are pretty darn good.

Thank you Very little |
An alternative would be Nashville Hot Chicken, not BBQ, it's the birthplace of Hot Chicken, so when in Rome.... Hattie B's is the best known, but there are others, 400 Degrees, Bishops, etc hopefully someone in the area can chime in Nashville Hot Chicken List Dreamland is Alabama's famous BBQ destination, so you probably should save the BBQ for Birmingham. Prince’s for Nashville hot chicken. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. Go Vols! |
If you can detour through Lynchburg, get reservations at Miss Mary Bobo's. Probably won't be barbecue, but it will be good.
