Inflation!!!
Here in Rim Country AZ., gas has risen 30¢ a gallon in the last couple weeks. Everything is higher. The local Walmart has more sparsely stocked and empty shelves than I've seen since the height of the pandemic. Heard WM just can't higher enough people to do everything. Everyplace in town seems to be hiring. Even McDonalds starting pay is $16.00/Hr.

BTW, P25OUA5, I don't know current fuel prices, but I used to rent a 150 for $14.00 an hour, wet.

The 150M I flew for the majority of my lessons was free Cool
Just had to "Keep it fueled & don't crash it"
My instructor was a flat $50/lesson regardless of time.

Last I'd checked, a 172 was around $140-160/hr, wet, plus instructor cost

Commenting on two different points in your post. My V-Tail (sold not too long ago, after owning it for ~30 years), was an S model, deemed by many Bonanza aficionados to be the most desirable of the 35 series.

Other point, back when I was a newly minted pilot, 100 octane was forty cents / gallon at most places, occasionally as low as twenty-eight cents.

Everything except my salary. I got a 3.2% raise this year and was told I was lucky, I got one of the highest raises of the 40+ people at my location. That's to go along with 5.4% official inflation rate which we all know is more like 10-15% in reality.

I love earning less year over year.

Let's Go Brandon.

I agree except it's not across the board. Some things are well over 40%.
They make you not care by causing supply problems so you are just happy to get what you need at any price.
The government numbers are no where close.
Jimmy Carter is the happiest guy around now. He never thought anyone would make him look this good while he was still alive.

Feeling the pinch with gas, beef and chicken prices ... still finding great prices on milk 99 cents half gallon and eggs at 99 cents a dozen (though get 10% off those prices with senior discount).

Update 10/22/2021: Today bought a whole local raised chicken for 99 cents a lb.

Saw a good sticker on the gas pump today! I was a picture of Biden pointing at the regular gas price of $3.79 saying "I did this"

HE CERTAINLY DID!!!!

Dumb, but my wife bought a bag of Lay's potato chips yesterday. They've always been $3.99. Now $5.05 a bag.

Yes, but you had to buy goggles.

At least families with kids are getting an extra $300 per every month aren’t they, or is it a tax credit?
All prices up here. Gas, meat, everything.

Aldi prices increases I noticed this month:
- Tortilla chips: $0.92 -> $1.39
- Potato chips: $1.19 -> $1.69
- 16oz cheese blocks: $1.69 -> $1.85
- Tomatoes and chiles can: $0.48 -> $0.68

Some foods haven't changed much, but the increases this month are much higher than usual.

Greenspan and other slimeballs cooked the books on inflation back in the 90s. Their changes to consumer price index (CPI):
  • CPI no longer measures the cost of maintaining a constant standard of living.
  • CPI no longer measures full inflation for out-of-pocket expenditures.
  • With the misused cover of academic theory, politicians forced significant underreporting of official inflation, so as to cut annual cost-of-living adjustments to Social Security, etc.
  • Use of the CPI to adjust retirement benefits, private income or to set investment goals impairs the ability of retirees, income earners and investors to stay ahead of inflation.
  • Most egregious of all: Substitution Theory Essentially, consumers shift their buying patterns in response to changing prices, substituting one product for another. The [CPI] index is based on a fixed market basket of goods and services. But, for example, if the price on an item like steak gets too expensive, consumers may switch to hamburger. Eek

    Fortunately, there is a website called shadowstats that still calculates inflation using both the 1980 and 1990 methodology. 13% CPI using 1980 methodology and 9% CPI using 1990 methodology. We're on the verge of Jimmy Carter inflation.

    Gas is up 6% here over the last ~30 days. We’ve been fortunate that it’s still under $3/gallon ($2.97) but that probably won’t be true after the weekend. On the other side of town it’s $3.09. As others have pointed out, grocery pricing is also on the rise. Very frustrating given the trajectory we were on 20 months ago.

    Just finished a master bath remodel. The shower door cost 3 times + 75 dollars what my first car cost in 1968.

    Curious - do EBT/SNAP recipients receive inflationary adjustments on a regular basis?

    Those dang seniors are so opposed to our wonderful socialism that we need to educate them!
    We’ll cause massive inflation which will erode the buying power of their fixed income and deplete their nest eggs much sooner than they planned.

    They’ll end up destitute and on the government tit!

    We’ll force them to live off the government.

    We’ll make democrats out of them yet!
