I don’t think he was debating that, he was perhaps inferring what you just posted.

At 1:48 he puts his thumb against the back of the slide. Was he pushing it into battery?

I had a G36 that would on occasion not go into battery after a shot just like that one did. I even took it back to the store(I bought it a local shop used) and they allegedly sent it back to Glock, though I don’t believe they did. Still had the problem when they returned it to me. I believe they thought it was shooter or ammo related. The last shot would be a light primer strike and a failure to fire. I ended up cleaning/oiling the striker and striker chamber (probably not what they are actually called). This fixed the problem but I never trusted that gun as a carry gun so I sold it. Not to mention, for me, that wasn’t a great choice for a carry gun anyway.

Another example of what you see so often in police shooting or self-defense shooting videos: shit grip.

Look at how bad his grip was, especially at the end. Not that it mattered in this particular instance because of the point blank shots, but something that's seen very frequently.

Lack of training or being jacked up on adrenaline?

If his gun was out of battery from the jump, I'm wondering if it's not the former (i.e. holstering a gun that's out of battery at the start of shift).

"Get out! Get out!" Trooper Nigro orders, pointing his gun at Huber.
"Go away," Huber replies, quietly.
"Get out!" Nigro repeats.

"No," Huber says.
Huber reaches his right hand down to something around the center console.

"Nope," he says.
From this point to the car down the street and on its side happened crazy fast.

When did that department start using 10mm???? The recoil knocked him down and the vehicle a block away.

Kidding aside.... an unfortunate situation that the suspect brought completely upon himself. I love how the 'experts' will jump on a dozen the ways the officer could have done it better, but not one will mention the hundred ways the suspect could have ended that peacefully.

The state prosecutor misrepresented the law by conflating 'negligence' and 'recklessness' during closing argument.
