When a policeman comes up to your car window with his pistol drawn and orders you out, you shouldn't say "Go away" and then attempt to drive off
Also, is it just me, or does his Glock appear to be out of battery after the shooting?
And yes, the officer is right- you are...excuse me- were a dumbass, and you got what you deserved.

Not just you. I had the exact same thought when I saw the video earlier today.
He even seems to recognize it, when he finally goes to holster it. He appears to hesitate and gives it a hard look.

Great example of the "fog of war" afterward.
He is initially very amped up, almost on autopilot. You can see it from the pacing, the looking at the gun almost in disbelief, the radio traffic.
But he did a damn good job holding it together.
Glad the officer is OK and the bad guy is not gonna be bad anymore...

Local news reported the guy was reaching into the console and that's when the officer shot. One other thing I noticed is it takes forever for the cops to get there even if you're a cop calling the cops.

Agree that the weapon is out of battery, likely from interference with the slide action. I’d have to watch a few more times and slow it down, but the slide was probably pressed against the seat back of the car or something similar.
In our basic academy training we teach “contact shots” they involve the officer physically preventing the slide from operating and then following that with a clearance step, tap/rack, re-assess.
In our agency that came about after an officer tried 3 times to dispatch a guy actively choking out (or something similar) another officer. The responding officer kept pressing the end of his gun to the bad guy, but was doing it hard enough to take it out of battery, resulting in no fire.
That being said, it’s very narrowly applicable and wouldn’t really apply given how this incident appears to have gone down.
