Conservative Treehouse theory: Brian Ross was Reporter 4 in the federal indictment of Senate intel comm staffer James Wolfe. https://theconservativetreehou...igation/#more-151304 Reporter #1 is likely Manu Raju of CNN. Reporter #2 is definitely Ali Watkins of New York Times. Reporter #3 is likely Marianna Sotomayor of NBC Reporter #4 is likely Brian Ross of ABC more at the link.

I skimmed that article. What exactly is Ross being accused of? ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

"What exactly is Ross being accused of?" It appears (so far) that none of the reporters will be charged with anything. James Wolfe is only charged with lying to investigators. Not with leaking classified info. Conservative Treehouse believes that some of these "leaks" were set ups by investigators to find out who the leakers were and who they were leaking to.

Charged or no, what is he accused of in that document? He's mentioned, so, what did he do? ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

Ross received leaked classified information from James Wolfe, the security director for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence who committed personal and professional suicide by boffing a female NYT reporter half his age, and regaling her with classified pillow talk. Ross is not charged with a criminal violation himself, rather Wolfe is charged with divulging information to Ross, then lying about it under oath. As for Ross, good riddance. from the Wolfe indictment In the indictment itself Reporter #4 wasn't accused of anything. The leakers get charged. Lying to investigators is the easiest thing to prove and it avoids public trial with dancing around classified info. The reporters can't be charged, but they can get exposed. Ali Watkins was Reporter #2. So what did Ross do wrong ? Lots of reporters have been running with strong attacks against Donald Trump with anonymous sources reporting unverified info. Ross ran w an explosive story that was completely wrong. His December story about Flynn was in the time window when Reporter #4 was communicating w Wolfe. Hard to say whether examples like Ross and Watkins have any effect on other reporters being more certain of their reporting.

One wonders why receiving classified information, for which you haven't been cleared, is not a felony. Much like 'receiving a stolen weapon'. These idiots give reporters classified information yet there are no consequences for knowingly receiving it? Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Here is one view. http://americasfuture.org/can-...ssified-information/ Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Yes. Because criminalizing receipt of leaked classified information means selective leaking by an Administration is a criminal act, too, and politicians do not want that option off the table. In addition, if a government official verbally gives over classified information or gives over photocopies of classified documents, the recipient need only state they were unaware the information was actually classified or were from a sufficiently dubious source. This leaves the government having to confirm the classified nature of the information. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government."
