I have been having problems with my right ankle for a few years now.Diabetic neuropathy,Broke foot 3yrs ago.Pain and mobility has been getting worse.GP doctor referred me to a foot Dr,Told me I need an ankle replacement. That was a kick in the teeth. Now I have an appointment with a specialist that only does ankle replacements.Anyone here have any insight on getting this done? I'm 70 and am not looking forward to this ,

I’ll be watching this thread as I have a father in sort of the same boat, who is also dreading (and delaying) surgery for this.

I had my left one ankle done about 7 yrs ago. I had no cartilage in my ankle from a really bad dirt bike incident in 1997. It was very painful to walk and work out.I went in to my Ortho and he told me he could replace it, so i scheduled surgery as soon aspossible and it is a lot better. I am 70 now and have had both knees replaced years ago and am pain free there. Just arthuritis everywhere now. Your range of motion will be a lot better.
