1. These people are the ones fighting to get the truth out. Without the work of Sen Grassley, Representatives Goodlatte, Nunes, Gowdy, Jordan, Meadows - we would know a lot less about what really happened. “lot less” is quite an understatement.

2. Rosenstein won’t enjoy the publicity of the House even discussing impeaching him. It remains to be seen whether there is enough pressure to get him to release more and redact less.

3. This is a battle of public relations. Keeping the discussion in front of the American public is important. We need to get as many voters as possible to comprehend that the FBI and DoJ were rotten at the top levels. There really are powerful forces still trying to obstruct the Trump administration and set up an impeachment attempt.

4. The Carter Page FISA warrant looks really bad from what has been made available. We need to see a lot more of it unredacted.

5. Open and legitimate harsh criticism of the FBI and DoJ on this “matter” (as Loretta Lynch would say) definitely spills over to reflect poorly on Mueller. If it can be shown there was no legitimate reason to even start the counterintelligence investigation against the Trump administration, and the FBI lied to the FISA court, it might even have legal implications against the Mueller investigation.

So, from my viewpoint, keeping it in the news that DoJ is hiding some really corrupt activity is necessary. It has an effect whether or not Rosenstein gets impeached.

It also sets the stage if President Trump takes strong action to either declassify documents or even fire Rosenstein.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions defended his top deputy Thursday after a handful of congressional Republicans moved this week to impeach him.

Speaking in Boston, Sessions said he has the "highest confidence" in Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and described him as "highly capable" when asked about the impeachment effort.

A group of 11 House conservatives on Wednesday introduced articles of impeachment against Rosenstein, who oversees special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation because Sessions has recused himself.

Sessions, a former Republican Senator from Alabama, suggested lawmakers should instead focus on "legal challenges," such as reforming the nation's immigration system.

"There are loopholes on our laws that are being exploited," he said. "Our enforcement officers' jobs are far more difficult than they need to be. Common sense legislation can make a big difference. That's where I'd like to see them focus their efforts."

Sessions also expressed regret for having laughed at a "Lock Her Up" chant and repeated the words during a speech Tuesday at a high school leadership summit in D.C.

"I perhaps should have taken a moment to advise them on the fact that you're presumed innocent until cases are made," he said when asked to comment on the chant, which is a staple of President Donald Trump's campaign rallies.

The chant refers to the FBI investigation of Democrat Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State under former President Barack Obama.

Sessions was in Boston federal court Thursday to join U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Andrew Lelling and other federal authorities in announcing 25 arrests in a federal sweep meant to crack down on document and benefit fraud.

Thursday's arrests swept up mostly Dominican nationals living in the country illegally. Prosecutors say many stole the identities of U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico in order to receive health care and other federal benefits in Massachusetts.

Sessions said the actions defrauded the federal government of about $250,000 and that many of the suspects had criminal records, including a convicted murderer who escaped from prison in Puerto Rico 24 years ago.

Sessions was rewarded for being an early Trump supporter, the first Senator to do so.

Clearly, Trump soon regretted this decision. A strong Attorney General would have cleaned house at the Justice Dept. and started fresh with Trump people.

It seems that Rosenstein is confident that democrats will take the house in November and is stalling trying to run the clock out on current demands for information. IMO Rosenstein should be recuse himself from Mueller investigation since he is a witness and signed FISA warrant renewals involving Russia investigation apparently from what I am hearing.

I've lost all confidence and respect for Jeff Sessions. He is either the biggest dolt to ever hold the office in a Republican administration or he is just as compromised as anyone else in DC, or both.

That's not the point. The 11 that filed knew it would never get a vote. But they still had the courage to do it, to say "this is unacceptable". Which is more than any other "republican" has done. The rest of them, Goudy, Ryan, etc just pay lip service while the corruption and attempted coup roll on.

There is another thread about a war. It is coming, bet on it. This country is divied and no election, no judicial appointments, no executive appointment will heal it. Not as long as corruption is allowed to run rampant in our government with absolutely ZERO being done to hold anyone accountable. The rule of law is dead as long as these people are allowed to continue unabated.

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) revealed in an interview on Thursday on "Rising" that the committee is probing whether the FBI sent informants to gather dirt on President Trump and possible ties to Russia prior to the authorized investigation, which was launched in July 2016.

"It’s one of the outstanding questions that we have for the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. We’ve had that question out to them for pretty much three months now. They have not answered it yet," Nunes told Hill.TV's Buck Sexton, who sat down with the lawmaker on Wednesday.

"Is it your belief it is likely that there was activity going on in advance of the start of that official FBI investigation?" Sexton asked.

“I will just tell you we wouldn’t be asking those questions if we didn’t think we had some suspicion of that," Nunes responded. "The problem with this is, running informants into political campaigns, or political campaign actors on the counterintelligence side especially, is a major problem."

"It’s because we give special powers to our counterintelligence officials because really a lot of Americans' basic rights are taken away through that process because it’s dealing with national security, it’s usually high level," he continued.

"So there should be a very high bar before you open up a counterintelligence investigation. So, if you are running informants into campaigns before or after you open an official investigation, most Americans, when you sit them down and talk to them, they know that that’s something really bad and that only happens in third world countries," he said.

Nunes's comments come after a group of conservative House lawmakers introduced articles of impeachment against Rosenstein, who has been overseeing the federal probe into Russia's election interference since Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself last year.
