Prodigy had an American tour coming up in a few months. Always wanted to see them. Guess I never will.
The Prodigy's Keith Flint dies aged 49 The Prodigy singer Keith Flint has died aged 49.
Instantly recognisable by his fluorescent spiked hair and known for high-octane performances, Flint sang lead vocals on both the band's number one singles, Breathe and Firestarter.
He was found dead at his home in Dunmow, Essex, on Monday morning.
The band, who were due to tour the US in May, confirmed his death in a statement, remembering Flint as a "true pioneer, innovator and legend".
In a post on The Prodigy's official Instagram account, bandmate Liam Howlett added: "I can't believe I'm saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend.
"I'm shell-shocked... angry, confused and heartbroken."

That's a bummer
I must have watched this video a million times on MTV Europe in the early 90's while stationed in Germany:

I read this earlier today, with his bandmate confirming it was a suicide. They were huge when I was in college. Bummer.

I still have at least two of their tracks on my iPod shuffle when I go running. Shame.

Had not listened to them in years but they sure did get quite a bit of play in my High School days.

That's sad to hear. I listened to a bit of their music back in my wilder years...

Fat of the Land was one of my most rewound tapes back in the day!
I was actually just listening to some of their newer stuff last week after not even thinking about the band in probably a decade.

I think I wore out two Experience cassettes in high school. To this day I zone out when I put on Jericho and let the album go.
I didn’t get into Jilted as much but man for some reason I got into Invaders when I was painting my house back in 09/10
I wouldn’t say it’s high art, but they were fun for what they were.
I’m sure those guys all partied hard for as long as they were a band. “A mans got to know his limitations.”

We had MTV Europe when I was in the Middle East. Their videos were crazy and entertaining. Smack my Bitch Up would never ever get aired in the US.

I saw it the night they did air it. I think it was on 120 minutes. Got played something like two times before being pulled. My roommates and I were all pretty liquored up on Natty Light, and I remember all of us being blown away by that video.

I’m surprised. Tits, ass, and needles? Did they make it to the last scene of the video?

I didn’t know until yesterday that Keith was a HUGE motorcycle entheusist and even owned a racing team that won at the Isle of Man TT twice! While reading about his life yesterday I also discovered he originally joined the band as a dancer.

They did, but if I recall correctly, the naked bodies were distorted in some way. I can still hear Kurt Loder bitching about it.

Until reading this thread, I had never heard of this gentleman or the band. I'm unsure if it's my kind of music, but it's a crappy way to check out either way.
