I don't need anything new. Something like a used Dell R720 with 16 cores, 192GB Ram, 13 TB of usable storage, etc, will do it for a home domain.

Where could I get something like this on the cheap? I found a comparable system online for $840, but that is a bit more than I want to spend.

What do you recommend?

Minus one server, everything in my rack came from ebay.

I paid $325 for a Sandy Bridge era Supermicro server with 16gb of ram last spring. Add another $100-200 for the ram upgrade and you should be in business.

Homelab is a sickness and we like it that way.

Back when I was a kid, it was stereo gear pulling enough power to cause a brown-out. At least 'homelab' creates something other than tinnitus. Smile
