I have a bottle of VO that is stamped 1970. That is the year my son was born. He likes expensive scotch, but I will give him this bottle some day. I also have another bottle that is stamped 1979 and that is the year my daughter was born.

I don't drink booze, but if I did, there would be no bottle left unopened.

Until we moved I also had an unopened bottle of beer from my senior week. Michalob Dry. So that was many years.

Was never much of a wine drinker but in the bowels of our basement is a storage cooler that has a couple of bottles of Ste. Michelle chardonnay that are vintage 1984.

I have an old Jack Daniels Belle of Lincoln bottle. Seal has never been cracked and it still resides in it's original box. I'm thinking it is a late 70's production.

I had a 2012 bottle of a very expensive Italian red wine that I was saving for a special occasion. 2 weekends ago, the lady friend and I hit a milestone so I smoked a rack of lamb, made some mashed tators, roasted some asparagus, and popped the cork on the Cab. Everything was outstanding but the Cab was the star.

Now, my oldest bottle is a 2013 Pinot Noir that I've been saving for a special occasion. Christmas is just me and the lady friend this year so there is a good chance I pop the cork at Christmas dinner.

I've got two bottles of cheap champagne in the downstairs fridge. I have no idea how long they've been in there.

A bottle of Barbados Rum.
Been in there 15 years now.

Was a LEO at a CT airport. The Skycaps were all from that area. Found that with a little kindness and respect, they were a wealth of information. Made several lifelong friends, and some pretty good drug busts.
Bottle was given to me near my retirement with a "just be careful" warning.

I'm guessing that it will probably peel paint, but the gesture was very much appreciated.

If you're into old bourbons and ryes there is a neat little restaurant in Covington, KY called Libby's Southern Comfort Food.

https://www.libbyssoutherncomfort.com/menus/#drinks

It's not online, but they have a list of old bourbons and ryes that they have on hand. Some are very low shelf brands like Old Crow, but because they only have one very old bottle its like $20 a shot. They have high end stuff too. Kind of neat to read through the list.

They also have the best fried bologna sandwich and collards I've ever eaten!

I bought a bottle of Jack Daniels Single Barrel the day I closed on my house in February 2010. I know I have a few that are older but that is the only one I can give an exact date on. To this day it is unopened until I move into a new place if that ever happens.

Later,

Verne
