Another vote for Nitto Ridge Grappler

I’m on my second set (put them on my 2021 Sierra 1500 AT4 right after buying it .. and had them on my Yukon Denali, previously).

They are a perfect tire. Very capable off-road and very reasonable on-road … and quiet! Mileage rating is really good too. I have zero complaints about them (okay, maybe they’re a little pricy).

And they look great!

A lot of my friends really like the Falken Wildpeak AT3W on their trucks/suvs. Good all terrain tire with a bit smoother ride on paved roads vs a KO2.

The Michelin Defender LTX M/S is the worst tire ever made as far as I'm concerned, so I've shied away from trying other tires in their LTX series. I like their motorcycle tires so I can't write them off completely but you will never see another set of Michelins on a truck owned by me without assurances of revolutionary improvements.

Ohh, do tell more about what garnered this opinion. I am the complete opposite I’d go to argue that the Defender LTX is the absolute best tire for trucks/SUVs that don’t leave pavement.
I have had nothing but excellent experiences with them.

Now the Premier LTX that is a whole other story.

Haha, I'm glad you're having good results from yours but I'm totally baffled whenever anyone says anything nice about them. I found that they had poor traction on dry pavement. Poor traction on wet pavement. Poor traction on snow. Poor traction on ice. Poor traction on wet or dry rock, poor traction in the mud. They are quiet and they last forever, but I'm convinced that's because they're made of some compound that doesn't wear because it's not actually rubber and it doesn't stick to anything. They should license it to Calphalon- pans made from that would be harder and more non stick than anything in existence today.

I wasn't suprised that they weren' good off road because they aren't really made for that. The lack of traction everywhere else suprised me though. They were scary. I've had good tires and I've had cheap Chinese tires, but that's the only time I've experienced tires so bad I wanted them to wear out so I could justify getting something else. As the miles piled up though, it became apparent that they were never going to wear out though and I went ahead and replaced them. I can only guess now, but I probably put 30k on them and they still looked almost new.

I did really like their motorcycle tires, and my car will probably get a set of pilot sports when I wear out the Nittos I've got on there now. The LTXs were just stunningly bad in every condition I ever ran across.

It is wild how folks can have such different experiences with the same product. You are describing my experience with 2 sets of Bridgestone Duellers and a set of Michelin Premiers to a T!
The Defenders handle everything on pavement with great ease. I posted a picture of my Tundra on AT2s earlier in the thread. I drove my wife’s Suburban that same day on the Bridgetones with under 30k miles and thought I was going to die.
The following morning I had Defenders put on and they blazed on the road just like the AT2s sure footed as a mountain goat.
2 snow storms since and a bunch of rain have given no issues. I do not however expect them to perform off-road at all but I also did not buy them for that. Though the AT2s have performed great for mild/moderate off roading as the OP has suggested he did.

The Wildpeaks are a pretty good tire. I had them in 275/70/18 and laid $170 a tire.
Now they are closer to $300 part is due to all the nonsense going on in the world but they created quite a following Falken raised the price before all this supply chain stuff.
You may also get a set made in China. I spoke with customer service and they had to do it to keep up production. Also said if you get a Chinese set they would swap them out for a non Chinese set for you under their satisfaction guarantee.

Yep, if all else fails, average out the likely hundreds of reviews per tire type on tire rack.

We all drive a bit different, some may be 98% warm weather pavement, the next is 50/50 in Canada.

Can’t discount the attraction of ‘looks’, some go for that. Just saying, some of those aggressive packages can be harder to keep balanced with even wear.

It’s like the guy in VA looking for a new rifle to deer hunt, with hopes of a Western elk hunt down the road. After a while, nothing short of the ‘versatile’ 300 Win mag will be enough.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy how we can have such different experiences with the same tire.

I actually forgot about a set of duelers I had. I remember them being just ok. They weren't awful, they just didn't do anything particularly well either. I don't think they lasted very long. I might have actually replaced them with the Michelins lol.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."
