rat2306Walking shoes
OKCGene, you may be thinking of the New Balance 990s.
I wear a pair of the New Balance 706s currently with Dr. Scholl's insoles. I have a pair of 990s; for general walks or putzing around the 706s are better for me. Next pair I want to try the Brooks Addiction. Ditto on the recommendations to go to a great store and be fitted properly.

FlashlightboyHoka is the new kid on the block. I have a pair, after trying the very expensive shoes from NB, Mizuno and others. Love the Hokas a lot for walking.

snwghstI’m on concrete all day every day for work
I’ve been using Merrills for years but they changed much of their line up for trail running and sneaker type stuff.
Based on a recommendation from a friend I looked into Hokas. I was pleasantly surprised they made my “Sasquatch” size 15
I ordered 3 pair. Very comfortable, good cushion, good support.
Couple observations….
Pay attention to how they support the foot between the product lines.
They do have a thicker sole, easily almost inch or more
So far 2 pair have been working great. 1 has support which I’m not sure about yet. Time will tell on long term durability. I rotate through the 3 pair during the week

220-9erMy knees started bothering me years ago due to decades of walking on concrete floors at work.
I've found the real key is to wear quality insoles, along with any number of quality shoes. I've been wearing Keens for the last few years.
Be sure the shoes (buy 1/2 size larger than your shoe size) have a removable insole and replace them with these. Buy them wherever they have your size at the best price.

rat2306Update: just ordered a pair of Brooks Addiction walkers from their website. Searching for a local source was unproductive. The website is pretty helpful for selection but it kept recommending the Adrenaline GTS. Dug a little deeper, and presto!
I may go ahead and get a pair of Adrenalines from a local source, they are much easier to find.
Doc prodded me at my checkup this week to pick up my walking routine if I don't want to take pills.

k5blazerWent to a specialized running shoe store. The staff analyzed our stride and pronation and brought out several brands for walking. Picked the Hokas and we like them. Very comfortable. Wife likes them a lot.
