No, this is not about why I am on everyone's Ignore List.
This is about why teenage boys become so hard of listening. If it weren't for them coming when called to meals, I'd swear they'd gone deaf.

It's amazing how quickly their hearing improves when you start listing off the priveledges as they are taken away

Uh, based on my years as a teenager? They won't listen, they'll just say "uh-huh" a lot and stare.

You don't know if you never tried it. Jugs are jugs. Teenagers are teenagers. You do the math!
But yeah, most of us short, fat, old, ugly, white, hetero guys would turn out to look far worse once they chop up our naughty bits.
It's not for me, as I don't have to communicate with any young'uns. I'm just looking out for your welfare, man. Think of the children!

My Mom quickly figured out that if I repeated "That's fine." more than twice in a conversation, I wasn't really listening to her.

Happens to girls, too. But I think the hearing loss is a side effect of eye-rolling.

Last week my teenage daughter who also suffers from this condition forgot an assignment she needed to turn in at school.
She texted me asking me to drop it off, sure no problem, but I put her assignment and a fairly embarrssing document in there...nothing over the top but an inside joke between my daughter
I texted her CLEARLY telling her to check the envelope and not just hand it in...Yup, guess who didnt bother reading my text and had to face her teacher and explain why the "other" document was in there as well!

This situation would cause me to consider murdering my offspring: His teenaged ass was permanently attached to a smartphone. Anyone calling or texting him was immediately answered. Except me. His father. Who was footing the bill for the phone! There were times when this went on that I thought I was having a stroke!

No lie there. My 17 year old daughter is deaf but I think it's because of the music blasting out of her earphones. The eye rolling kills me.
I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

He probably knows you misattribute fictional quotes to Cicero, and he judges you for it.
It is a great quote, though. I, too, wish it were real.

I found this video recently (on SF actually in another thread) and felt it was REALLY insightful. So much so that I had my 13 YO watch it earlier this evening, and then we had a quality discussion on the content. I covers number of related topics that are relevant to millennial adolescents/teenagers, both now and in their future. Enjoy!
