I watched a FB post in a local town group page turn into a total shitshow in about half a day over this.

Some welfare queen bitching about how Trump doesn't want to let her buy candy and chips and soda with her generous SNAP benefits and why is she being forced to buy fruit and cheese and bread and people telling her she's welcome to buy all of that junk WITH HER OWN MONEY until she's blue in the face. Then she responds and says "I need this, it's all my kids will eat!" and then the shit really hit the fan

We really do need to encourage people to become self-sufficient.
We've gone too far down this path of allowing and even encouraging dependency.
