I'm ditching my Liquid Logic Remix XP10 for something that likes flatwater more. The contenders are the Old Town Loon 126 or the Wilderness Systems Pungo 120.

Now, I have a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120, which I like pretty well. What I'm wondering about is the ASC2 seat the Old Town comes with. It looks just as comfy and a bit more rugged than the WS seat. Any chance any of you out there have tried both?

Sorry, haven't tried both, but I have a Pungo 120, and it is amazing. I have tried many brands, nothing matches the pungo for stability and comfort as a sit in kayak that I have found.

Multiple Kayak owner here. For flatwater, if it was me I'd get a canoe. Wenonah makes one 30 lbs or so (kevlar), and you can tuck some air bags in it to make it float in all conditions (even rapids). The Old Town you linked is 59 lbs! The Pungo at 49 is pretty heavy as well. I was thinking this 2 weeks back when I had the new dog on my lap stuffed into my kayak (actually my wife's as there's more room) and the pup was in my way when I was trying to paddle. I'd seen a fella successfully run a class 4 rapid with a canoe while we were scouting the run and later got to inspect his rig. He'd stuffed flotation in both ends and lashed all his crap down incase it rolled - said it was as unsinkable as a raft. (not as stable though:-)

Edit, I was perusing the site as I'd sold my canoe when my boy grew up and moved out. Shockingly, they've gotten lots lighter, here's one that comes in at 16 lbs! This is old guy territory. Kind of expensive, but it will last your lifetime. Buy once cry once. https://wenonah.com/Canoes.aspx?id=152

I've had a Pungo for more than five years, and I've never had any regrets. It's one of those rare purchases that I've been completely happy with.

I had a 12' Liquid Logic Stingray. Found the polymer construction let it flex too much and didn't track well on the lakes I frequent. Switched to an excellent older Loon 111. Shorter, but the 3 ply polyethylene construction made it more rigid and it tracks much better.

I went with the Loon. Thanks all!
