Cocksuckers.

You may have seen me rant at every opportunity about how Uncle Joe forgot to refund me my $2,000 from 2020. I always math it out to owe because I never want to give them an extra penny.

Well our tax guy screwed up and we wrote a check for 2Gs extra that year. I realized it when I finally got the tax forms to review, but he had filed an extension so it was too late.

Fast forward and after many phone calls and attempts to get a meeting, I figured that was two grand gone.

Well yesterday we got a letter from the IRS saying they owed us $2k from 2020, and it should show up in 6-8 weeks. Wife saw it and chuckled…she had made three calls to the IRS this week trying to schedule an appointment, guess someone finally got annoyed and looked it up.

Not holding my breath…but the IRS can still kiss my ass.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

I would have thought you could have applied it to the 2021 taxes and covered it in that filing.
Then again I'm not an accountant or tax preparer.

Cocksuckers indeed. You were actually able to get somebody on the phone? In 2021 it took them months to get me my return, and whenever I tried to call I got stuck in a hold loop and dumped. Never did get ahold of a person.

In fact, if I remember correctly, you'd already been dealing with this situation when I was dealing with that. Nice of them to finally get around to giving your money back 3 years later. Considering inflation it's probably worth about half of what it was in 2020. Don't imagine they'll provide any interest...

Shouldn't they pay (at least) T-Bill interest on their debt? After all, if you underpay they are into you for interest over and above a fine.

Public service is an oxymoron these days.

My father's will is still in limbo in the NYC courts for more than 39 months. It is a simple will with everything going to support my disabled sibling. Nobody contests anything. It should be the simplest of situations which the judge could read in 5 minutes and approve the executor to liquidate the now nearly depleted assets due to the delays.

And the federal treasurydirect bond website. Their website crashed from high demand, which tagged everyone's account who was on or tried to log on during the crash as a potential miscreant, and locked the accounts.

The only way to unlock is submit a notarized form which will then take 20 weeks for them to process! The form literally only has my account # and signature, which proves nothing. All they will do is check a box in their computer that I submitted the form, and then I can access my bonds.

They're all useless.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
They will pay interest{Mind you a miniscule amount} if they determine the error was the fault of the IRS.}
