There is some transitioning going on lately. This is from the circulating Presidential series.

One of the recent wimmins-on-quarters was the first I had noticed to display 25¢ instead of being a quarter dollar.

They did manage to take the word 'Liberty' off of some of them. Boo!

Has anyone seen any of the 2026 quarters, dimes or nickels? They are dated 1776 to 2026 and the dimes and quarters have unique designs for this year. I have only seen them on the US Mint website. None in circulation yet. There are pennys, dollars and half dollars as well but they are only available from the mint. I really like the design of the dime.

In silver or gold those would be pretty cool.

eta: US Mint prices have a serious premium! About $1000 over what a 1 oz Gold Eagle on the open market costs. Understandably there is some premium on a new product with the collectible aspect of carrying the 2026 250th anniversary, but wow.

About twenty five years ago my son was raising hell in elementary, shitty grade too. He did have ADHD but I refused drugs. I asked them to hold him back. You would have thought I had grown a third eye from the looks I got. He turned out good but not from school. No child left behind Roll Eyes

I also think that the dime looks best of all of them.

Then again, the design on the front reminds me of that kid from The Legend of Zelda.

To think there was a time teachers used money as a math lesson knowing everyone understood money.

If you look back to when the Department of Education and the Teachers Union was formed you will see that's where education dropped off and the money spigot opened.

Its no fun gluing a dime to the sidewalk anymore. Nobody cares.

Growing up, I lived in Hutchinson, KS where they hold the State Fair each year. I worked concessions in one of the buildings. I got done one day and was headed out when I spotted 2 quarters on the floor. I bent over to pick them up only to find them glued securely to the floor. I noticed a couple of men sitting on a bench snickering. The next day while I was working, I watched those gentlemen laughing at others trying to pick up the quarters. When I was done working, I walked over to the quarters making sure they were watching. You see, this time I had a chisel with me and I popped those quarters off the floor and then laughed at the men on the bench while they became furious that I ruined their fun. After that, they tried two more times to glue quarters to the floor and I came away with their quarters each time.

The Semiquincentennial dime, one year of issue only, is very reminiscent of the old Mercury Head dimes from 1916 to 1945, with the Phrygian Cap.

Personally, I feel we need to get away from busts of former/dead Presidents as that is too close to monarchial concepts of design. Go back to only Liberty Head on coins.

The US Mint will release the 1776-2026 coins in a set later in Summer. https://www.govmint.com/learn/...f9WBLNZqsRFw6OTOSabd

Interesting. I thought you must be mistaken. The penny and nickel have “one cent” and “five cent” respectively. Dimes are marked “one dime” and quarters are marked “quarter dollar.” Fifty cents don’t have any marking at all!

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Am I crazy for not even thinking the question is correct?

You have $15, how many dimes are in $15?

Well, is it $15 worth of dimes? Or do I have a ten, 4 ones, some change?

The kids are stupid yes, but I didn’t like the teacher’s question either.

So you're saying you wouldn't get the question right then. Interesting.

1. You have to read past the first sentence.
2. I would get the “answer” right or wrong, not the question.

There has been Arabic numerals on occasion but generally they don't. .50 cents are usually marked Half Dollar

The question was HOW MANY DIMES ARE IN $15
Simple question, no room for debate. Jesus on a pogo stick. It's 150 freaking dimes, not 2 $Fives, 4 $Ones 3 quarters 2 dimes and 5 pennies.
