For android, buy last year's model for half price. As an example, my LG V20 was $300 from B&H Photo. It was $650 the year before. Updates for the LG are few and far between and I'll be looking at other brands when the time comes.

Make sure you get the model that works with the most networks.

I'm planning on firing Verizon tomorrow.

Haven't settled yet on what's next.

The TMobile guy is across the street from the Verizon guy. They have a tempting package.

We switched from Verizon to T-Mobil several years ago and have been happy. Cut our bill in half with the veteran plan. Now I have unlimited data for less money...I didn't have unlimited with verizon.

Sign up for one of the public "parties" and get visible for $25/month

ordered a SIM today

newer iPhones can do eSIM

I have been unable to find any downside to joining one of the large groups.

Visible. Unlimited everything, including hotspot. It is on Verizons 4G towers (3G ends soon anyway), just lowers your priority, and used to limit speed to 5mbs. I believe they have eliminated the speed cap though. For $40/mo... I’ve been more than pleased.

If you want an iPhone, the best way is refurb or new directly from Apple. Get the sim free version to use on any carrier. As V-Tail mentions, refurbs are like new, carry the same 1 year warranty, and are eligible for Apple Care+.

Military discount too, from Apple, if you are active duty, retired, or an honorably discharged veteran.

I switched to Mint a few years ago, haven't been happier. 10g plan for $260 a year, uses TMobile towers, and 5g when available. Only drawbacks are you have to own the phone and sometimes I find Ryan Reynolds annoying.

If you are 55+, most cell companies offer an unlimited everything plan for “elderly” for cheap. Like $70 a month for 2 phones.

I use Xfinity wireless, uses Verizon towers. It’s $45 a month for unlimited everything for me. My two kids use WiFi only (not a lot of data) so their portion of the bill is only $12 for both phones ($6 each). About $57 a month for 3 phones.

I went to Mint Mobile. Its ONLY $15/month with your device. I paid off my Note 9 while at Verizon and still use it almost 4 years later. Service is not quite as strong in rural areas but I've been happy, especially saving $70 a month for my family.

You didn't mention your age, but, T-Mobile has a 55+ plan that is reasonable if 1 of you is 55 and on auto pay there is no tax or fees up to 2 lines

This is what we did, dumped ATT and cut the bill more than half, we did find that the 4g coverage was ok, some dead spots around the area, but switched to 5G phones and it is very fast.

You also get basic Netflix with this plan, so if you do pay for Netflix, this will save your the $10 to $15 a month you spend there as well..

If it's like Spectrum's similar plan, you do not have to be their internet customer. You can get the plan without being an internet customer, but it the monthly cost will be twenty bucks higher.
