The kid was looking for a confrontation, I've seen it before when the schools are racially different. Pumped himself full of ego and bigotry, runs his heat, saunters over to the other team's tent attempting to intimidate and 'start something', looking to snap on the first person who challenges him.

The school district in San Francisco I was in was largely mixed, some schools had much larger Asian/White student bodies others were pretty heavily hispanic/black. Most of the basketball teams were usually always all black with maybe a few white kids, however there was a few teams with mainly Asian kids. When the all-black teams would go up against one of the predominant Asian teams, the level of smack-talk, intimidation and physical extra-circulars would go way up, same also if a suburb school team came to play which was usually all white or asian, same situation, the racially implied confrontations would ratchet up significantly.

The state called Tiffany Whitaker, an athletic trainer at Memorial High School. She said that her job was to prevent athletic injury. She stated that she was at every event. She has received extensive medical training, and is CPR certified. She said that she knew both boys.

She stated that there was a rule about the tent. It is like a locker room. It’s a Team safe space.

She stated that the weather was cloudy and windy. She stated that around 10 AM. She was set up with medical equipment at the Andrews building. She stated that she saw Austin around 930 AM and he gave her a hug.

She said that she saw a commotion and heard screaming. She ran onto the track to see what was going on.

She said that a student she knew said “Him! He stabbed him and threw the knife!” The student then pointed at Karmelo.

She said that she then stopped right in front of Karmelo and put her arms out to stop him. She then got Coach Hooper’s attention with Heritage High School.

She said Hooper then turned towards Karmelo and said “you stabbed someone son?”

She then moved on to find the person who was stabbed. She did not know who it was yet.

She arrived to the tent and saw multiple people were already helping Austin. She grabbed his wrist to check for a pulse. She gave rescue breaths while the coach with liberty high school was giving compressions.

Track head coach Vincent Hooper was the next witness with Heritage high school.

He was asked about tents. He said you want your kids to stay in their camp. He said he had left the tent to go get batons from the car and then made his way back.

As he was walking back, he said everyone was running and panicking. He then saw Coach Tiffany who said “hey this kid stabbed someone don’t let him leave!”

He stated that he put his hands around Karmelo. karmelo said “he put his hands on me.”

The coach told Karmelo “you know if he dies, you just changed your whole life around”.

Karmelo responded and said “he’s not going to die”

He then passed Karmelo over to a Centennial coach. He said an African-American kid was chasing Karmelo and the kid said “he stabbed my brother. I’m going to get him!” But he was able to grab him and hold him back.

This particular individual is likely a witness and I do not know if it is a minor so I will not be identifying this person.

The coach then said he walked up to Austin … he said Austin was pale white and in a puddle of blood.

he next witness was Joshua Redman, a coach with liberty high school.

Joshua Redman is an army veteran. He was deployed three times, blown up three times. He said that he has led men and lost men. He is 6 foot four and 240 pounds.

On April 2, he was the throwing coach. He said that liberty high school had two tents. One for the boys and one for the girls. He said the weather was only a light drizzle of rain. It was not raining heavy.

He stated that he was close to Memorial high school tent. He did not hear anything until there was a burst of energy. He said kids were running and people were screaming. He heard them running on the aluminum bleachers.

He stated that he then saw Austin at the bottom of the bleachers with his back up against the fence. He said Austin then fell to the ground. Hunter ran to him and held him and was screaming that he had been stabbed.

He stated that he then took off his coat and put pressure on the wound. He had to shove Hunter to the side because Hunter was trying to hold Austin tightly. Hunter was hysterical. He stated that based on the location of the wound and the amount of blood pouring into Austin‘s abdomen, he could tell that it was not good.

He then stated that he recognized agonal breathing which he knew meant that Austin was already passing. He stated that before EMS arrived he knew that Austin was already gone. But he did not state this because he wanted all life-saving measures to be taken regardless.

After EMS arrived, he then went to the lockers to wash the blood off of his hands. He left the jacket on the ground.

Then they played the 911 tape

This tape was absolutely devastating for everyone in the room

You could hear everyone screaming in the background. You could hear the army veteran working on Austin. You can hear the coach screaming “stay with me, Austin! Stay with me!”

The individual who called 911 said that Austin was breathing, but it was just the agonal breathing as recognized by the coach. Which meant that Austin was already gone.

In the background of the 911 call, you can hear Hunter crying and screaming. You could hear him saying “PLEASE GOD! Please!! Please GOD!”

The called then gave 911 the description of Karmelo. And stated that he was just some kid from another school.

Photos were then shown to the jury of Austin. This photo was not placed on the screen out of respect for the Metcalf family.

A picture was then shown of the jacket that was used to attempt to stop the bleeding. The inside of it was covered in blood.

The coach was cross-examined. It was reiterated that he did not hear any yelling before the incident.

To corsair’s point -

“Eyewitness: Karmelo Anthony Was Asked to Leave Opposing Team’s Tent ‘15 Times’ Before Fatal Stabbing”

https://www.breitbart.com/spor...fore-fatal-stabbing/

“An eyewitness to the fatal stabbing that left 17-year-old Austin Metchalf dead claims that his alleged killer, fellow teenager Karmelo Anthony, was asked to leave his team’s tent “15 times” before the fateful altercation that led to Metcalf’s death.

The 17-year-old witness who attended Frisco Memorial High School with Metcalf, claims he was among several other Memorial students under their team’s tent when Anthony entered their team space wearing the uniform of his school, Frisco Centennial.”

I was listening to the radio this afternoon, and the host reported that three of the black jurors dismissed stated they had reservations in convicting another black. And the other several black jurors were dismissed because they were teachers/educators, prosecutors rightfully ridding of biased citizens because the killer and victim were high school students.

IMO, the prosecution are well aware of the pitfalls of the OJ trial, and want to avoid the mistakes made in that trial.

Reading comments from the X/Twitter link Para posted and there were people upset there were not any black jurors. If the Anthony family wanted to raise Karmelo in a black neighborhood there are plenty of them in Dallas County. They chose to live and raise their kid in the Collin County suburbs and they get what America says they have a right to, a jury of their peers (Collin County residents).

Frisco was farmland when I was a kid (I grew up 20 miles south on Dallas). The population has grown 40X in the last 40 years, it's all developed now. I read up om Frisco it is now 50% white, 27% Indian immigrants, and 9% black. I have no idea what percent of the Indians are citizens, registered voters and how they might lean on a jury.

My hope is that the jury doesn't get sucked into buying self defense. From the testimony today Karmelo had a desdly weapon and went looking for a fight.

After calling 21 witnesses to refute the killer's claim of self defense, the prosecution rests their case.

That reminds me of something Vincent Bugliosi mentioned in his book Outrage: The Five Reasons Why O.J. Simpson Got Away with Murder. Bugliosi wrote that in addition to other general incompetence, the prosecution could have easily held the trial in a venue where the jury would have been much less likely to acquit him on blind racial grounds.

I like William Kirk's videos, very informative. Here, he goes over the law in regards to this case, IMO he is spot on.

Neither.

I work 1.5 miles from the courthouse and live 3 miles from the courthouse.

I am not concerned about riots here.

Good video. He doesn't make a prediction, because it's up to the jury... but any honest application of the law to the facts we've seen would seem to preclude self-defense.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Thanks for the link.
It is hard to imagine any sensible person believing otherwise, but it's good to have a professional explanation.

I especially liked that video because unlike so much other YouTube content, it wasn't filled with a lot of extraneous fluff.

In TX, non-capital murder, the jury has a say on punishment. Maybe jury gets another free lunch, sign forms and agree guilty with 99 years.

They can’t execute him due to his age when the crime was committed. Oh well. Interesting the state turned down the plea deal. If he is found guilty will he actually get the 99 yesrs ? Or 20-30 or so ?

Last year, the Anthony family took plea bargaining off the table and rolled the dice for a full trial with two possible reasons- defending the killer's actions with race was their only option to get their kid off, and also, taking a plea would take away fundraising from the plea process. And the maximum sentence if he is found guilty of 1st degree murder for him is life in prison with a possibility of parole.

And I'll bet money that Paxton and Abbott are watching today's events very closely, with reinforcements on standby.
