Someone here a while back mentioned that you can add the letter "l" in front of the dot in the image file name (ex: pic.jpg becomes picl.jpg) and the resizing magic happens. That's what I did with the two pics above.
I don't know if that works for everything, but so far it's worked for everything I've tried to post.
