Latest physical Lab results are back. My EGFR Non-African American value is 25ml/min/1.73m2. Normal is >60.

Referral to a Nephrologist ,Woo Hoo--February 2022. I asked to be placed on a waiting list for an earlier appointment.

Hope I live that long. If I don't, I'll let you know.
I hope I get my Helm Komodo watch to wear before they box me up.Smile

I've had medication related temporary ARF; avoided dialysis but was put on a renal diet for months. Not a happy point in my life.

Best wishes for you. I'm curious why God made kidneys so weak that even with redundant systems, it's still not enough.

I’m sorry to heart it, Johnny. I hope you get in sooner than that. For what it’s worth, I know how you feel. Different organ, but the result is the same. “You’re telling me this and you’re not going to give me a followup until when?

Don’t do what I did and read everything on the Internet like it all applies to you. Just talk to your doctor when you can get in and eat healthy until then. I’ll be praying for you.

You've got friends here pulling for you however we can. Sorry for the bad news. I know nothing about how bad it is, I'm sorry regardless.

Develop a good relationship with your nephrologist. Listen to what he has to say and you can have a long life. Unless you live in BFE there should not be such a wait. Look at other options in your state.

That is not VA or DOD, it is a referral through the Baptist Health system here in Arkansas.

Thanks, Johnny. As others have said, listen to your doc, and hang in there until then.

Stage 4 is bad, right? It's not like Defcon levels where lower is worse?

The VA might get you in quicker. If they can not get you an appointment within 30 days they have to schedule with community care. Some VA centers are pretty good, some not so good. Where I live the VA is better than the civilian centers. If you are eligible for VA care, no reason you can't receive care from the VA and civilian doctors at the same time.

Hang in there Johnny. My mom's 87 and has been in stage IV for over a year. She's still doing very good and hasn't slowed down one bit.

Man. Yeah, I'm not waiting until February. Find another health system. Mine could get you in in a month or less. Gotta be someone around that can get you you sooner.
