Took a trip south
And had my fill of Blue Bell ice cream (at the factory in Brenham), Handel Homemade ice cream, brisket, baby back, pulled pork, shrimp and grits. And lots of sweet tea.

I need to buy new pants....

I've lived about an hour from Brenham most of my life & have never made the occasion to stop at the creamery.
Hope you enjoyed your time here, I'll be headed to the cage (LA/Bakersfield area) in June.

I enjoyed Rudy's in Spring. Smile

1/2# brisket, 1/2# baby back, medium beans, 4 slices of bread. 1 gallon of sweet tea. I rolled out the door.

Oh, and a bunch of those round pepper things. I don't know what they are.

That's about 8 minutes from my house.
There's a few of us in that area.

Round peppers...hush puppies? or Jalapeno poppers?

The peppers were free at the condiment bar. Next to onions, pickles and stuff. They had pickled jalapeños too but i didn't care for them. Too mushy. The round peppers were good though. Bite of brisket. Bite of baby back. Spoonful of beans. Bite of bread. 1 round pepper. Swig of sweet tea. Repeat until done.

That looks about right in terms of shape. The color was a little different - varied but I think it was a darker green. If that's it, I'm gonna look in the local market for them. They were good.

I've been once, but it's been a nearly 2 decades. I remember it being an interesting tour and then trying several more flavors in addition to my favorite Pecan Pralines ’n Cream.

I had their breakfast tacos last Sunday. Jalapeno sausage is a great ingredient in a breakfast taco.

Unfortunately they didn't allow for multiple mixed scoops. So i chose pralines and cream too. $1 per scoop!!! Dangerous place if i passed by daily.

Boiled peanuts aren't really a big thing in Texas (where the OP went). They're more of a "Deep South" things, especially Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina.

Love boiled peanuts. That's how we always ate them. Never knew about roasted peanuts, until I arrived and became a Texan 49 years ago.

They opened a Handel’s ice cream shop here in PA and I didn’t think it was all that great, the ice cream isn’t very rich at all. Seemed more like an ice milk, maybe I’m just spoiled by local dairies and their ultra premium high butterfat stuff.

Handel’s is from Ohio isn’t it?
