Oticon Hearing Aids
Anyone using them?

I had a pair about 20 years ago, they were Oticon Delta BTE. They were good; worked well and lasted several years.

I’ve been using Siemens Signia Insio 7AX ITC for the past few years. Technology has changed over the years; there were a few other pairs in between.

Not sure that helps.

MY VA hearing aids are Oticon. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being excellent, I give them an 8.

I have a pair. They're better then my previous pair, which were top of the line Phonak units. The technology is pretty solid, and thse Oticons are easily adjustable with the bluetoooth app.

I have a pair. They are almost 5 years old and were the top of the line at the time. The new ones are 2 generations newer. I’m looking forward to January for my new insurance to kick in so I a get a new pair.

I just got a new pair less than two weeks ago. Before that, I had a 5-year-old pair of then top-of-the-line Phonaks. After doing research online, I felt that the Oticons would be better for me. My hearing professional happens to like the Oticons the best right now and agreed with my thinking.

So far, I prefer them to the Phonaks. Battery life is definitely better and I prefer the sound quality of the Oticons. Apparently, the various brands have their own unique sound and the Phonaks are very "tinny". The Oticons have a more natural sound to them. They have been better for listening to music from speakers in front of me. I'm hearing things that I hadn't noticed before like more of the background instruments.

Overall, I have been happy with them. I do have 63 days left on my 75-day window to return them and try something else but I don't plan on doing that.

Thanks all. Found a local audiologist here in town that uses them. Making an appointment.

I have them from the VA and been pretty happy with them. I don’t have the BT for a couple of reasons and outside of their waterproofness they work well.

I have had a set for 4 years. The phone app works well and the ability to adjust for loud rooms is good. Parts are readily available and my audiologist carries those parts. The sound quality is very good. In short, I am please with them.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

Yes, using the latest version of the Oticon Intent. The sound quality is excellent. I really like how they work in noisy environments like a restaurant, making speech so much more intelligible.

For music, there are some tweaks your audiologist can make to the program that greatly improve the quality. Basically, turn off volume compression, turn on all the microphones. There were 1 or 2 other tweaks but I am out of town and don't have my notes on that.

The bluetooth is really nice. The app is simple to use to adjust the hearing aids (volume, treble, mid, bass, mode) via bluetooth.

I love how my phone automatically routes all audio to my hearing aids. Phone calls, music, podcasts, timers, etc.

Good to hear the positive comments on the Oticon Intent model.

I remembered more about the music listening mode. I believe these tweaks can be done on other good brands such as Phonak. The Oticon pre-packaged music listening program is Crap, with a capital C! Phonak gets perhaps better reviews from musicians out of the box, and iirc the user can get into the programming easily to tweak things themselves. The audiologist can tweak everything on the Oticon, and if you're hardcore you can buy the gizmo and attach it to your Windows pc to do it yourself.

Turn off volume compression, or at least dial it down to the minimum setting possible. Turn off feedback suppression. Turn on all the microphones. Turn off frequency compression (used for severe hearing loss). Turn off any background noise reduction or speech enhancement settings.

Basically all you want is your hearing curve active, and all the other fancy stuff turned off. You can use the app to turn the volume up or down, and to make adjustments to bass, mid, and treble if needed.

I find this music setting superior for watching tv, too.

My wife recently had an appointment with an audiologist; he spent a LONG time discussing pros and cons, recommended Oticons which are not available through Southern California Kaiser but ARE from Northern California. Since we just moved to Northern California, will see about getting Oticons (for both of us) here.

Thank you. There are so many models and so many brands out there that it becomes a crap shoot at best, and the sales pitches are comparable to used car sales lol.

Have an appointment in early January for possible hearing aids and until then I am trying to learn as much as I can regarding what to consider, and what not to.
