Longtime North Jersey Congressman Bill Pascrell Jr. (D) Dies At 87.
PATERSON, NJ — Longtime U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell Jr., who represented New Jersey's 9th congressional district for 28 years, has died at the age of 87.

Pascrell, who was the second-oldest member of the U.S. House of Representatives, was seeking his 15th term this November. He was a fierce critic of former president Donald Trump, and voted to impeach Trump twice.

Never made it be #1

Looks like he was always a shoe-in, getting 80% of the district vote, $1.4 million war chest, but now that he's gone, wonder if his Muslim competition will take the spot on the D ticket.

No kidding, he's been in congress since 91 and has a reported $6 million dollar net worth, before that in the army and then mayor of a small town..

Politics is profitable.

Going to Washington DC is profitable. No one who is elected and goes to DC comes back poor. Hell, even when they are indicted and go to Club Fed, they still are rich, just maybe not "NAZI Gold" or Batman Rich.

There is one notable exception: Donald J. Trump. His net worth decreased after his first term.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Of course, the profitability of becoming a member of Congress contrasts sharply with how President Harry Truman left the White House in early 1953. He and his wife drove back to their home in Missouri--no Secret Service escort nor an outsize pension. Things seemed to have started changing in the late 70s, early 80s.

This may come with some derision, but mark my words...we will rue the day that we allowed muslims to attain elected office in this country.

And, no, Article VI section 3 does not apply.

They are already embedded. Sharia Law conflicts with the US Constitution, that's why they get sworn in with the Quran.
