I got some advice that it would improve my health by adding eggs to my diet (the cholesterol seems to be as necessary as the protein). I'm willing to try but just can't bring myself to jam one down my craw.

Any advice on getting these important nutrients in my body without immediately puking? I honestly don't think I'll be able to do it.

As Deqlyn mentions your cholesterol may be at a healthy level but it's not because you don't eat eggs, eggs contain cholesterol but that does not raise cholesterol in our systems. (In contrast pasta, bread, and sugar contain no cholesterol but cause our system to produce it). I'm not a big fan of eggs by themselves. If you simply don't like eggs by themselves try them not alone such as an omelet, there's a thread here with the members favorite ingredients for making omelets. Another protein option I enjoy for breakfast with my oatmeal is a bowl of Greek yogurt with a couple teaspoons of low sugar jelly and handful of walnuts.
I also scramble eggs (or add tofu) and add to vegetable stir fry. Neither impart a taste by themselves.
The ultimate egg enjoyment is a pickle egg with a glass of beer! Big Grin

You can BBQ 'em, boil 'em, bake 'em, sauté 'em. Dey's uh eggs over easy, eggs scrambled, eggs omelet, eggs gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir fried, pineapple wit eggs, lemon eggs, pepper n eggs, egg soup, egg salad, eggs and taters, eggs sandwich. That-thats about it...

I love eggs almost any way but sunny side up (don't like the snot texture) and over hard. Picky on my hard boiled, need to be fresh and not over cooked to avoid the sulphur smell and green film on the yoke.

One of my favorites, is bacon chili-cheese omelet....

Now, that you have the egg situation sorted out you need to meander over to the omolette thread for some ideas (warning, contains both healthy and unhealthy ideas) for a little variety.

Seriously, the only way I like or have ever eaten an egg is in a cake, or brownie, or cookie.

I'm certainly not going to do an omelette.

My wife can't tolerate eggs either. She hates the texture and taste. A hard-boiled egg would probably maker her puke. But she does like to have a quiche every now and then. They're simple enough to make, and for her she can put stuff like smoked salmon in it which she absolutely loves.

Ok, this seems to be the only option but how to do it safely is the question. Pasteurized eggs was mentioned, are they specifically made to be eaten raw?

I know it seems childish but my stomach is actually turning by just thinking of putting quiche or an omelette in my mouth.

Eggs are indeed the perfect food.

If you can't stomach hard-boiled which was going to be my suggestion (slathered with Miracle Whip and sprinkled with salt...mmmmm), then perhaps start with potato salad, egg salad, quiche, or omelets.

I've got a wonderful spinach quiche recipe if you'd like it.

^ This. I eat 4 egg whites every day of the year for protein content.

If you hate the taste that much, then bang a protein shake in the blender every morning. Add desired fruit, honey, peanut butter...

Do some research on the fatty acids contained in eggs and other foods and just substitute. I would think taking a fish oil supplement and cooking with olive, avocado and coconut oils (never Canola-vegetable oils) and eating more fish, avocados would do it.

There are "Essential" fatty acids that the body cannot produce (have to be ingested from an outside source) that we use to make hormones. Same goes for the essential amino acids. This is why a vegan diet is not healthy, they aren't getting these essential nutrients. Carbs on the other hand don't have to be ingested, our bodies can create glycogen from anything.

My son doesn't eat them either and a brother only eats them one way--not scrambled, but puréed so they're completely blended, then cooked. You might try that.

If you're eliminating the yolk, you're in many ways eliminating the most nutritious and best part of the egg.

It's the yoke that has the suggested nutrients though.

I'm not a doctor, but trying to lower my cholesterol which was high and my testosterone is low, my doctor said NOTHING about eating eggs. I also have never heard how cholesterol raises testosterone.

That being said, eggs take on a completely different taste and texture just on how they're cooked.....omellete, fried, poached, hard boiled, scrambled..... one way you can eat them is to make egg salad and mix some in tuna fish, you don't taste the egg except it gives the tuna a creamy taste. You can also make fried rice for dinner and mix some scrambled eggs in there and you usually don't notice them....

YOLKS it depends.....I'm on a low cholesterol diet so I avoid them. I eat the egg whites which do have protein in them......but all of the cholesterol is centered in the yolk. Now there are various studies to differing degrees regarding the cholesterol in them......many say it's good for you......many say to avoid it......I don't know which one is totally true, so since i'm trying to get my cholesterol down, I avoid them.

I loves me some eggs, runny eggs, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, over easy eggs, sunny side up eggs, eggs is good....

What other food types do you like, if you love Mexican then a burrito/enchilada filled with either a thin omelet or scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, ham, some hot salsa, hot sauce, sour cream would be good and you'd hardly taste the eggs.

Scrambled, make them with onion, tomato, peppers, salt pepper, whole milk, salt, pepper, ham, bacon, sausage.

Or you could get testosterone shots...

Get your testosterone levels checked. Don't guess.
Then, either treat the low-T and eat what you like or enjoy knowing that your levels are fine and eat what you like. Wink

Don't eat the eggs.
Ask the person that told you to eat eggs what the alternatives are.

As for cholesterol. I was diagnosed at 40. Tried diet and lost weight but not my levels. Was even a "lab rat" for an NIH research study. Nope. They finally put me on drugs. My genetics did me in.

You think eggs are gross but you're talking about eating them raw? I love eggs and think that's gross.

Try some potato egg salad. If that's okay, try egg salad. lol

Deviled eggs? You mention smell and texture, but to me they're all different. An omelet is nothing like a hard boiled egg.
