I've been using my used Tarpon 140. It's been pretty good and I think it would be pretty stable in the ocean. That being said, it's probably unlikely I will use in sea water: my wife probably won't kayak in the sea and I'd probably rent instead of bring if I did go sea kayaking. The Tarpon is good but it's a little cumbersome in lakes / slow rivers. Basically flat water (although there are sometimes water ski boats / jet skis). I'm thinking about a sit inside like the Pungo - maybe 100 or 120. Any thoughts? What should I expect in terms of 'ride' differences between the Pungo and the Tarpon - both in terms of sit inside vs SOT and 140 vs 100/120? I'm looking for some additional maneuverability and maybe a easier to load / unload onto the trailer (as well as cart 100 yards). The SOT was appealing for stability and self bailing - especially for kids. But for me, I'm okay if the kayak sinks - I can swim sufficiently well still and could make it to shore. Wife will stay with SOT (Tarpon 120). "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned."
