In MI you have to choose which party to vote for. Would it be wise to vote Demonrat, and vote for the mainstream Demonrat candidate, in the hope that they would win the primary, and all the young Democrat/socialist voters would then stay home for the election, pissed off because their candidate lost the primary? Or is it more important to vote the primary as Republican, and pick our strongest candidate to run against the demonrats? ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member

Vote for the most qualified candidate, regardless of party.

We have the same system in Missouri. "Crossover" voting in the primary can be strategic, in some circumstances, but in general the answer is the latter: "It is more important to vote the primary as a Republican, and pick our strongest candidate to run against the demonrats" "Crossover" voting gave us Steve Stenger as St. Louis County Executive 4 years ago and now there is much talk of more "crossover" voting for his Democrat primary opponent to get rid of him. It's a mess. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

My advice, FWLIW, is to vote for the strongest R candidate you can find. Once you start trying to influence who the other side puts up, you start wandering deeply into unknowns and unknowables. You're essentially guessing how someone else will guess as a result of what others guess. Better to keep it simple and trust the Michigan Dems to either screw up picking a candidate or opt for the most conservative candidate on the D roster. That way you're making the Dems do most of the guessing instead. Remember, the Dems are absolutely NOT going to be monolithic going into the midterm elections, and the more vicious the infighting in '18, the more vicious the infighting in '20. Sit back and let them tear each other apart for a bit.

“Don’t vote for Democrats.” — Calvin Coolidge Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. We have a similar situation developing in the MN Governor's race. The DFL endorsed the most liberal pair (Gov/Lt Gov) you can imagine, but they face two more moderate challengers in the primary. The temptation for me is to go and vote for those two clowns and set up an easier campaign for the Republican. BUT, there's always the chance the two extreme clowns win the whole thing.

I'm in Mi. and I will vote for the Rep. candidate strongest on 2nd amendment and with the best chance to win in the fall. My 2 cents worth. Yep. If your plan is to vote for Whitmer in the Democratic primary so that Al-Sayed doesn't win, I just don't think there will be enough people thinking the same way as you that would make a difference. Vote for the Republican with the best chance in November (I believe this is Schuette, but that's just my opinion). Don't waste your vote crossing the aisle.

IMO, you should vote for who you want in, not who you want out.

In NC I registered as an Independent. This allowed me to vote for either candidate (R or D) when the primary came up...as in many states the Primary only determines who will be on the ticket in the fall when the real voting matters. I always went early and got a sample ballot and ALWAYS found there were people on the ballot for offices no one had any idea was running for some obscure position..ie agriculture, judges, local offices, county offices I always did research and then I voted for the man, not the little letter.... many times I found just because someone had a "d" next to their neam they were really conservative and found that registering as a "d" was the only way they could get thru the morass of the Democratic BS that NC has..... used to be that if you applied for the NC Highway Patrol the first thing they checked was your voting registration....now I know that is not legal or right, but it happened....and I'm sure it still goes on "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. Same thought crossed my mind this morning. El-Sayed and Thanedar are both clowns. Unfortunately with all of the "If it's free it's for me" crowd both of them are promising them everything. While I'm supporting Schuette I would rather see a runoff between him and Whittmer. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A.
