I've never had a manufacturer call me before and request I come in for 1 let alone 4

I get my recall notices via mail. I've never been called. Of course, being BMW, maybe it's a different level of service than for my Ford.

I get called weekly by the Subaru recall team. I don't own a Subaru, and I have never owned a Subaru.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

That front air bag recall is some serious stuff. If your dealership has the replacement parts available, don't delay. Get it done for your safety and your peace of mind.

My wife's Escape threw the Check Engine Light a little bit ago. Disabled the remote start feature. I checked the Ford Connect App, and it said everything was operational, but there was a notice for a recall.

I called the dealer, and they said to bring it in. They swore that the recall and CEL were separate issues. Turns out, the recall DID throw the CEL, as the recall was to inspect something in the emissions system. Nothing actually wrong with the vehicle!

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

My BMW wagon's trunk latch goes up randomly by itself, sometimes when I'm hundreds of feet away or the key fob is sitting in a drawer in my house. In fact, the only scratch on the car is from it doing this while the garage door was closed, which it did again today, but I just happened to back it into the garage to load band gear later on. Had it in for regular service last week, dealer has no recall or TSB on this issue, suggested I use my other key fob, which I did. No joy.

So too is the blower motor. Forums would have you believe one or two have caught on fire, parked, car off. Thanks for the reminder, notice from November still sitting on my desk.....

Years ago I drove tow truck. An individual who lived in Da Yoop had a safety recall for his Range Rover and made the dealership in Milwaukee drive up there to pick it up. When they called him a few days later to let him know that it was complete, he said "great, you know where I live, bring it back to me". I got paid a lot of money to flatbed a perfectly good SUV 300 miles back to the customer's house!

They recently called me about my '06 for the airbag recall. I told them I traded it in a few months ago and gave them the dealership info so they can hunt down the next owner.

Did you just buy your BMW. I received all those recalls as well and it was over a 2-3 year time frame - definitely not all at once.

It sounds like the prior owner never reacted to the recalls and thus they were getting concerned and found you as the new owner.

I had a 2008 BMW X5 that had 2 of those same recalls. Didn't get a call but got a few mailers. Took awhile for the dealer to get the parts in...I guess there was a long backlog of work to do.

LOL. You definitely want to move right away on the air bag and blower motor ones. Best of luck and love the 3 series!

My BMW phones home and updates the mothership with it's maintenance status. Wife gets calls from the dealership to bring it in for service.

Just dropped it off at the dealer. They said it'd be done tomorrow. He said the hardest recall to fix will be the vanos bolts which surprised me. I thought it'd be the airbag but he said they don't need to remove the whole dash for that.

He did say he was surprised to see a car that didn't have the bolts done and I told him I had called but they weren't set up for it yet at the time and I forgot all about it.
