#2 was said to cause cancer in the 1970's. It was banned in 1976.

It caused enough of a scare that M&Ms stopped making red candies, even though they didn't use that food coloring.

This is why I enjoy buying groceries at Lidl. Many of their products come from Europe, where red dye #40 is banned in food.

Mrs. Mikes hippie friend has a redhead kid that when she eats or drinks anything with red dye in it..she has some kind of reaction where she can’t sleep..she also has a reverse action to Benadryl
