Ford was well prepared by her attorneys for her opening statement.

WTF:
The professional prosecutor used her 5 minutes and never really asked a question! She just asked/allowed Ford to clarify 3 of her emails.
I wonder how she was chosen... she seems to be helping Ford "clarify" rather than cross-examining her.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I agree. He did not do well on his Fox News appearance.

Like Dershowitz said, they never should have picked a prosecutor. They needed a defense attorney, one who knows how to cross examine.

I tell you, it's hardly even worth listening to Ford's questions and answers. This is an absolute chore to listen to. It's like listening to a faucet a quarter turn open.

And Feinstein wanted to enter thousands of letters of support she received to the committee? Roll Eyes

Her story is about to get really thin under this questioning.

It seems like allowing her to testify under the 5 minute format was a mistake. The Democrats are going to make her look like a victim and Mitchell won't have enough time to make he story look thin.

What a shit format...jesus. we get 5 minutes of actual discussion about the supposed event and before we can get anywhere of substance it is halted so some asshole leftist can cry about the FBI not investigating...

The prosecutor is building the house. The foundation isn't complete. Hopefully she gets to the attic.

Yeah and her bravery only took 3 decades to pull together Leahy - so brave she is, opportunistic, but brave

Its so traumatic Kavanugh nomination was the trigger to be brave

Remind me to never be nominated for anything ever, in fear some fake stories you can never fight come up - its like first to speak is the one who's story is truth - especially when it fits their needs - damn the facts

Rachel Mitchell doesn't seem to have the slightest clue that she only has 55 minutes

I am going to go out on a limb here and bet she knows, has rehearsed the format and will get everything she can under the limits imposed.

If that is your view, you may take solace from the likely fact that no votes will be changed by anything that will be said in this hearing.

The purpose is not to expose the witness as a shameless liar, but to avoid the pointless optic of 11 OWM pressuring this witness.

Short of a Perry Mason moment, most unlikely, nothing will matter.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

This entire hearing (I'm not watching) is nothing more than a bunch of campaign clips for the left.

If the republicans knew how to wield the power they have been given by the people this would not be takin place.

Martha McCallum:
You have to wonder if the Republican Senators are asking themselves if this was a good idea...
(having this prosecutor ask the questions, disjointed, 5 minutes at a time, not getting anywhere, not critical at all)

So all th democRATS are going to do with their time is keep harping for an FBI investigation, refer to the other alleged incidents, enter character references and letters of support from people who don’t even know her into the record, and blow niceties up her skirt.

What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

She may be running down the clock. I’d guess her last third of questioning will be effective.

The Dems have manipulated this well, even Fox News calling it a disaster for the Reps. Frown
I hope Kavanagh pulls it out in the fourth quarter.
