Il CattivoHonestly, I'd rather that Collins and Murkowski were pissed off than see the other Reps try to herd them into doing the right thing. Not only would that render Flake irrelevant, but I bet it would smooth the paths of future nominees (even if only for a while) as well.
As for pulling Kavanaugh, why would anyone bother? Better to shove him down the Dems' throats.

As for the shitshow, well...see my previous post. If they send in an all-fired circus, that may be the best and most efficient way to piss off Collins, Flake and Murkowski. Pissing off Flake gets Kavanaugh out of the committee with a "yes" recommendation. Any two of them or all three together would, of course, make the nomination a foregone conclusion.
Wouldn't it be funny if the shitshow turned out to be Kavanaugh's best friend? There is a point where all of this sort of thing really does tend to work against whichever side it putatively supports.

JALLENOTOH, if the voters return a 53-57 seat majority in the Senate, maybe things will be easier after that. Somewhere between 3 and 6 seats were thought to be realistic.

And if Repub's take all the senate seats they could potentially win while holding those they are being challenged for, Collins and Murkowski's votes will mean exactly 'jack'. Personally, I don't think Collins is going to be a problem in the end, and her yes vote should bring a yes vote from Murkowski with it. And as I noted previously, Flake is far to big a coward to be the only Repub vote against Kavanuagh, a vote that would essentially be nullified when Pence voted to confirm Judge Kavanaugh.

I think that's about right. Collins is the key. Grassley and McConnell know it, which is why this entire thing is designed to get/keep her vote.

Is this possible/feasible?
Part of me thinks that if accusers want the FBI to investigate the accused, they should be ready to accept a similar investigation themselves.
And certainly, it should be made clear that false testimony (lying) will be punished.
