Don't post hearsay. Cite a credible source with a live link or don't post it. I am inclined to remove your post. I don't want to see exaggerations and falsehoods posted in this forum. You make it sound as if apes are crawling all over his property, and that is simply not believable. Cite a credible source or I'm going to remove it.

Well, that sort of answers my question, "wonder how the judge and his family are passing the time while this drags on?" Good grief. Has our society devolved that doggoned far? God bless America.

No, look. Stop. Guys. Figure it out. We don't post falsehoods and exaggerations here, not knowingly. Just stop For fuck's sake. "Somebody posted something on Facebook." NO evidence. NO corroboration. Just stop it. If you want to see the admin get really pissed off, this kind of thing will do it. Do not use my board to spread rumors. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

Your inclination is correct. Some nut (not you, nighthawk, the person who made the story up) posted a fake article on a parody site and it was shared a million times before anyone checked it out. Obviously he, his family and his home are being guarded - he is a sitting federal judge. https://www.google.com/search?......33i10.p9efKxovT04 “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

That was fake news. However they are protesting at Collins house Protesters at Collins’ Bangor home urge her to vote against Kavanaugh https://bangordailynews.com/20...e-against-kavanaugh/ "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

I was gonna say - is that "dead" or "deep in hiding"? That woman makes red flags pop up faster than Mao at a Red Guards rally.

Yes, they are. But if you want to be depressed even more, try The Soviet Tragedy: A History of Socialism in Russia, 1917-1991 by Martin Malia. It’s a more comprehensive view of the entire life of Communist Russia and one of the most clear-eyed and blunt condemnations of the whole system. ► 6.4/93.6 “ Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one’s own understanding without another’s guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one’s own mind without another’s guidance.” — Immanuel Kant

JAllen, thank you for posting Dov Fischer's article from the Spectator. Seems like the Spectator is coming back 'round to be a worthwhile journal. Para, thank you again for maintaining high standards for posting--certainly higher than the media have. As I have said before, being able to come here to learn and discuss has been invaluable--and saved me personally much grief and stress. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

I have a number of such sites that I go to read articles. Each has some fairly well done ones and some notso. I read as many as I can stand or seem interesting. When one seems promising for discussion here, I post it. Sometimes there are several in a day. Sometimes the well goes pretty dry. I have to admit I have never gotten the hang of predicting the response here. Some which seem most promising attract a few hundred readers and no responses, while some of those that seem marginal draw dozens of comments, maybe thousands of reads. I never know. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. I have not infrequently gone to quite a bit of trouble to research a topic, find what I think is an excellent and thoughtful article, post it with a link, then watch while posts I consider far more frivolous get pages of comments. Sometimes I don't know why I bother. Your record--and your reputation--is at quite a different level completely. Keep at it, please! _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

https://www.politico.com/story...-confirmation-856437 McConnell’s focus right now is entirely on the triumvirate of GOP Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Jeff Flake of Arizona. McConnell needs two out of the three to back Kavanaugh in order for the nomination to succeed, and he is walking a fine line in addressing their concerns while continuing to press toward a final Senate vote. McConnell’s deputies were coy on whether the Kentucky Republican would move to end debate before the FBI probe is completed. “People need to understand that we’ve done what’s asked,” said Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas). “We’ve asked [Flake, Collins and Murkowski] what they need, and this is what they said, so my assumption is once they’re satisfied with the results of the supplemental investigation, they’ll be satisfied to go ahead and vote.” Collins herself was noncommittal on Monday, telling reporters she was satisfied with the direction of the FBI investigation. "Let me just say that based on an extensive conversation that I've had with the White House counsel, that I'm confident that the FBI is doing a thorough investigation and it will be helpful to us as we make our decision," Collins said. McConnell, though, had his own subtle message for Collins. During remarks on the floor discussing the Kavanaugh nomination — and promising a vote this week — McConnell went out of his way to praise Margaret Chase Smith, a former Maine Republican whom Collins greatly admires. “Back during the McCarthy era in 1950, character assassination and uncorroborated allegations were being utilized in a very different debate in that era,” McConnell said. “That’s when a distinguished senator from Maine named Margaret Chase Smith — an icon from the great state of our colleague Sen. Collins — took to the Senate floor to say enough was enough.” As for Flake, he made a stop in New Hampshire, where he discussed the 2020 presidential race and a possible run for the White House. Flake also said he didn’t want an investigation merely as “cover” to confirm Kavanaugh. “We certainly want the FBI to do a real investigation and we are working to make sure that that happens,” Flake said. “I’ve had discussions, many yesterday with my colleagues, and with the White House counsel’s office. My staff is following up as well.” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Does Flake think his betrayal helps "a possible run for the White House" ? Flake wouldn't stand a chance.

Oh stewardess, I speak jive. |
The latest potentially thorny bit being reported is that Kavanaugh knew about Ramirez's allegations before the story in the New Yorker, which contradicts what he said in the hearing. Apparently there are related text messages that predate the New Yorker story. NBC News article

Why are you guys looking at NBC News?? Their goal is to block this confirmation. Their goal is to discourage you. Why expose yourself to that stuff? It doesn't do a single bit of good.
