I have this one, Viair, keep it in the truck.

I have the Dewalt inflator, as the rest of my cordless tools can share batteries. I use it for vehicle and trailer tires, as well as inflating our river tubes. Never any issues.

Are any of these things made in USA? All the ones that I've been able to identify, are Chinese made.

Very, very few electric tools are made in the US nowadays. You might be able to find some that are made outside of China (like Mexico or Vietnam), but likely not made in the US.

I have a Vlair 70 series pump for track days.

I have Rigid cordless tools from Home Depot and they make a pretty nifty inflator. I've had it for a year and it has the dial-your-desired-pressure feature.

I'm sure there's no working difference between cordless tool models. I just use Rigid.

How are you going to use it?

I like the idea of one that matches your tool batteries but that doesn't work so well if you plan on leaving it in your car unless you always keep a charged battery in your car also.

If you are going to throw it in your car and leave it might be better with one that runs off your car's 12-volt system.

We’ve got 5 or 6 of the Milwaukee m18s at work to keep in trucks, they have been really solid although most of the guys have compatible Milwaukee tools also so there is that. I used one to air up a semi tire and it got me 50 miles back to the shop. They are great for a garage kept setting, if I wanted a cheap one to leave in a car or pickup I’d lean more towards a Slime brand or other cheaper alternative.

I use a Tirewell It’s powerful enough to inflate my truck’s tires.

I ended up getting the 300p and am pleased with it.

I bought a tire inflator / battery jumper / portable AC outlet / USB Charger labeled DeWalt from Costco but it's a little bigger than a foot cube. I still have it but it's in the garage.

I bought this for a tire inflator and it's small and the jumper is similarly sized.

I use a Ridgid 18v power inflator. Compatible with my other Ridgid tools, keep a spare battery in the vehicle, along with a power torque wrench for changing tires.

Interested in the Viair 88P.

Looking at the specs it has a 10ft power cord and a 16ft air hose. How much bulk does the air hose add instead of a longer power cord and shorter hose?

It is not an issue in my truck but storage space is a concern in my wife's car.

I took my 450p up to MI last week with the minivan and tandem PWC trailer and flew back. That left me without a portable compressor when I take the truck and another trailer up in a few weeks so I ordered an 88p from Amazon yesterday. It arrived today and I already pumped up a flat tire on the Beetle. Four new roofs on our street in the last month. Anyway, it’s a lot smaller than the 400p, but it filled the tire in a few minutes. There’s nothing that feels cheap about it. The bag is nice, the battery clamps are nice, and the hose is nice.

On a side note, Viair apparently is derived from vital air. I’ve only owned one for 8 years and just caught on today.

I bought this one last year from Amazon. I like that it is either AC or DC. Connect it, set the pressure, let it run. It has auto shutoff. I have used it with both power sources and it satisfies me. I also have a Craftsman 12V inflator that I bought about 15 years ago.

Get the viair. When that tire has shit the bed is a poor time to discover your battery is toast in that inflator.

I’ve used my Viair several times as a rescue for others, as well as bicycle tires. It requires nothing after stowing it away. If you have some sort of hidden battery posts be sure the model you choose can run off a cigarette lighter.

Fanttik S100 APEX Tire Inflator Portable Air Compressor is on special at Costco (maybe just Canadian?). It looks like a pretty good price.

Just an FYI, if you have pool floaties, air mattresses, and/or those inflatable islands to inflate a shop vac or leaf blower are your best bets.
