In search of a portable tire inflator. I tried m Google-fu and came up with a few I never heard.

One was a Fanttik X8 Apex. Never heard of Fanttik.

Another recommendation was a Dewalt 20v max.

I have the Dewalt 20v. It’s great. You can dial the psi to the setting you want, press start, then it auto shuts off when it reaches that psi. Had it about 3 or 4 years with no problems. This is it: https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-...e%2Caps%2C204&sr=8-3

What do you want to do with it? That’s really not a stupid question.

What size tires? What PSI? Are you airing up your tires after off-roading? Are you just wanting to put a few pounds in when the weather gets colder? Airing up trailer tires?

Your responses will determine which model Viair gets recommended.

That’s the one I’m leaning towards.

Not for off-roading. Just something to keep in my vehicle.

I went to work last night and the idiot light (low air pressure indicator) was on. I hate those thing because they usually light up due to cold weather.

Anyway, I got to work and looked at my tire, it was half deflated. I work in LE, so I couldn’t immediately address the problem. Well, by end of shift it was totally flat. I was able to fill it using the air compressor from our fire departments engine.

Took it to get checked, found a screw in the tire.

So, I’m just looking for something to air up a flat in case I don’t have a fire engine handy!! lol

Do you have cordless tools already? If you do, then the best answer is the one that works with the batteries you already have. I have milwaukee stuff, so I have a milwaukee inflator. I also keep a cordless impact in my truck with the appropriate socket for my lug nuts, because if I have to actually change that tire and its 20 degrees and dark, I'm not screwing around with the lousy tools that came with the truck. The impact is Milwaukee too.

I bought a 110v one years ago and it does a great job. I was in Home Depot last year and saw the 18v Ryobi one inflator, already have plenty of batteries for it, why not? It kicks butt, works better than my 110v one.

If you already have Dewalt, Kobalt or Milwaukee batteries I would go with on of those

What rainmaker said. I have Ryobi stuff, so I have two Ryobi inflators.

This is the one I got, it was highly recommended by the off-road guys on the Tacoma forum. Fortunately, I haven’t had to use it yet.

Just used my Kobalt brand from Lowe's inflator, thanks to the cold weather (hit 12 last night, I think). AC or plugged into cigarette lighter. Digital readings; IIRC it was on sale when I got it for about $75.

I am huge cordless fan but I don't think I would go with cordless/battery operated for car carry...

Many years ago I purchased a combo auto Jump starter-tire inflator from Harbor Freight. I have no idea how many tires I have inflated with that thing. It works great, and not a lot of money.

My Ryobi inflator and battery have done just fine sitting in a car for years, through a number of cycles of 100+ degree summers and sub-zero winters, and several dozen uses. I think I've swapped the battery out for a freshly charged one once in the past 4 years, and that was just out of an abundance of caution, not because it was that low.

Same one here and I really like it. Can also inflate pool toys etc.
I got this one a few months back. It's also a lithium jumper pack and compressor. The compressor works the same as the Dewalt. I put this one in my truck in the winter time because of the jumper capability.

ryobi inflators are graeat deal and free as tool with bat pack during holidays

For leaving in my car, that’s what I’d do and I’d add a plug kit for those times you pick up a screw so you can plug the hole until you can get the tire fixed professionally.

I love cordless tools, but unless I worked construction and happened to keep the tools and batteries in my vehicle, I wouldn’t buy a cordless one to leave in my vehicle for emergencies. Seems like a waste having to keep one of my expensive batteries in the trunk with it.

I have the Ryobi one too. Great tool. I like how it screws on the stem and shuts off automatically. Digital gauge as well.

Forget the other wannabe brands. Viair is quality. I also have the 88P for about 6 years now. Works like a champ every time.
