When he drops the prop at :38 and he takes off. Looks like a lot of fun.

It's funny to think the term Redneck can be applied globally.

In looking at that video first thing I wonder is the video accelerated, it sounds like the rpms on the diesel are way too high for a Diesel engine. At times it sounds like a two stroke anyone knowing Diesel engines knows it just doesn’t happen.

It's not sped up.

That is what turbo drag racing small displacement diesels sound like.

They sound like 60s-70s 2 stroke motorcycles, and accelerate like them.

Uhh, there are two stroke diesel engines out there. If you want to see one very common 2 stroke diesel all you have to do is look at the air cooled model aircraft engine. Yeah, those tiny little engines are in fact Diesels. IIRC the GM 6-71 superchargers were also originally designed for use on a 2 stroke 6 cylinder diesel engine.

As for the RPM's, you should listen to one of the Audi racing Diesel engines some times, they run at a redline around 5000 rpm and are very quiet due to the turbos not only making boost but also partially extracting the Noise Energy and turning that energy into even more boost. If you want to see an even higher rps Diesel then just go to a local drag strip and watch the Top Fuel Dragsters. Those run at 10,000 rpm or more and under power are actually compression ignition engines because of the heat produced and the simple physics that Spark Ignition won't produce a flame front fast enough to produce the power produced by compression ignition in these engines.

Don't know what the specific engine used on this boat was but I suspect that it was a 2 stroke diesel and that was one reason why the revs seemed so high and why it sounded like a 2 stroke.

I've stopped counting.
