I kneel for my God, and I stand for my flag |
"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he’s been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to just be people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old time rail journey…delays…sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling burst of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride." - Jenkin Lloyd Jones

Perhaps incorrect attribution. This is what I find on the www. _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. It appears President Hinckley mentioned in this BYU devotional from 1973 Jenkin Lloyd Jones was one of his favorite columnists. He attributes the quote above to Jenkin Lloyd Jones. https://speeches.byu.edu/talks...owledge-holy-spirit/ Thank you to Sig228 and ChuckFinley for your posts. I want to go read more writings from Mr. Jones.

I thought that P.J O'Rourke wrote that... hmmm... "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye". The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, pilot and author, lost on mission, July 1944, Med Theatre.

There is more wisdom packed into that one statement than most people are capable of absorbing in a lifetime. I wish my children had at least an inkling of the truth presented there. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.
