The Bulldogs baseball team just won the College World Series to capture University’s first National Championship in ANY sport. MSU has been to Omaha 12 previous times and has been unable to win it all. The scene is incredible, it appears that Mississippi State fans outnumber the fans of their opponent, Vanderbilt, by at least 3/1. I don’t know how big Starkville, MS is, but a whole bunch of them are present.

9-0 MSU, on a combined 1 hitter

Way to go Bulldogs! My wife and I were pulling for them since Vanderbilt has won the CWS before. I think they were destined to win after I saw the incredible sunset with shades of maroon mixed in with all the other hues.

SEC! SEC! SEC!

Congratulations to Mississippi State from this Vandy grad. They were just too much for us this year.

Regarding the number of fans present, Mississippi State is almost twice as large as Vandy, it’s fans are heavily concentrated in Mississippi, and they travel really well to support their team. Commodore fans are scattered all over the place and generally don’t.

Got my degree from Mississippi State. Best time of my life! My roommate was their baseball manager his entire time during college. So I got to hang out with a lot of the ball players and hear lots of stories I wish I never had. LOL Very fun to watch them win!

Mississippi State has brought really good teams to Omaha for a number of years, but just couldn't seem to get the stars to align properly for them to win it all. Congrats on a well played tournament and final game.

Congratulations to MSU's baseball program.
There's quite a history there, especially those '84 & '85 teams of Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, Jeff Brantley, and Bobby Thigpen who came up short in the CWS.

incredibly annoying, wasn’t it. I heard (no idea if true) that the jerk doing it was thrown out of the ballpark at the Regionals. You would have thought ESPN possessed the technology to filter out the noise. If that’s a Vanderbilt tradition, it needs to go.
