Henry Stryker aka HenryAZ, RIP
From Henry’s wife:
On Sunday November 10th, Henry fell and broke his hip. On Sunday November 17th he passed away. On Sunday December 29th I spread his ashes, along with those of Mookie his dog and SWAG his rabbit, under the palos verde tree in the front yard, as was his request.
I attached Henry's cremation tag and SWAG's name tag to Mookie's collar and hung them, along with my rosary, from a branch of the tree.
I did not share this information until New Years Eve partly because I wasn't strong enough and partly because I felt it was a fitting time for it.
In keeping with Henry's sense of humor, he told me that in lieu of prayers people should knock back a box of Hot Tamales Candy which he considered part of the USDA food pyramid for the entire 35 years we spent together.

Henry and I became friends in 2008 and he introduced me to this forum and The Garage Journal. I have poorer since, but do not regret a moment. Henry was a very smart man that excelled at many things including fine woodworking, shooting, reloading, IT and server management, and all things mechanical.

I am frustrated and devastated by the loss of my friend.

I am helping his wife with the details as he wanted, and instructed her to request help.

I know he may not have been as active the last year or so, but he spoke often and fondly of this forum.

In the eighteen and a half years he was a member here, I had a few occasions to correspond with Henry and I knew him to be a kind man, generous with his friends.

I am genuinely saddened to hear of his passing.

I was confused by the screen name, but after para's post, I remember him.

I'm sorry to read about your loss. I do agree with him that Hot Tamales are part of the FDA's food pyramid. I actually received a bag for Christmas and will eat a few tonight in his memory.

I am saddened to hear this. I own a .45 of his that he sold me 6 years ago. I was just thinking of him the other day, and looked up his username here, and sadly now know why he hasn't posted in awhile.

He will be missed. Thank you for letting us know.

Well damn. We never met, but because I lived in the Wickenburg area, we shared that locale and communicated about it, in threads and once or twice in emails. I’m disappointed that I never we got to meet Henry, especially since I have two old friends who live in Congress, and will certainly get down there someday.

I hope his wife is managing ok, I’m sure it’s tough, he was quite obviously a great guy.

I’m always sorry when one of our number passes. Though I didn’t know him nor likely ever corresponded with him, Henry’s passing is no different. May God keep him close and bring peace to his family.

According to my records Henry was born in 1947, so he passed at age 77.

A few months ago, he posted something to the effect that he derived amusement from the thought that people would try to look up where South Congress, AZ is. Being new to the area, and having been one who paid attention to, and looked for his posts, I think it would make him smile to know that I am one of those people. Smile
