Was thinking the same after the last couple Alaska-related threads.

This posting is well worth bumping.

I hope he's ok, I always enjoyed his stuff, especially the "old fart on campus" era.

Did he still have a home in Phoenix?

I have one for Frank from 2015. Don't know if it is still valid. This from back when he was posting a lot about his daughter Maya's archery accomplishments.

Sent a message to that address. We'll see if I get a response.

Heard back from 2000Z-71. Frank's doing well.

Hope I'm not out of line but I sense similarities in his absence to what we saw with Appliance Brad's not all that long ago.

I'm not sure why 2000Z-71 dropped out but I talked with Appliance Brad. He had two or three reasons but one that caught my ear was that folks tended to argue with him about his advice. I've found that true when I've helped people with tax items. Folks that know nothing about tax tell me I'm wrong. One time it was so bad that Para stepped in and told the person to cool it. But there were a couple subsequent reoccurrences of idiots arguing points of view that were simply unfounded. So, I've pretty much stopped answering tax questions. Some members just don't know how to play nice and do not appreciate others sharing their expertise.

I also miss hearing about Maya's archery adventures.

It happens… People take breaks.

Sometimes the grumpy old men is just too much.

Last few years, I’ve realized has been hard on a lot of men; many isolating.

Having to deal with other humans can be difficult, especially when stupidity abounds.

It’s fine. Ebbs and flows.

You're not far off the mark here with what Frank shared with me.

She's coaching now at her Archery Club in Arizona.

He's NOT taking a "break."
He has no plans to return.

He probably got sick and tired of people telling him he was wrong about COVID despite his personal experiences with it.

I liked his stories about his daughter and try to remember them when talking to my son about his swimming. He can’t deflate some other kid’s soccer ball though.

Damn. That's a loss. I get it, though.

Well done to Maya for doing the coaching side of the sport as well. She's not only going to pass on her knowledge, but will gain a wealth of experience in people skills.

I think Frank dropped off just about the time I was going to Alaska. I was sad that I didn't get to meet him. Life changes suck for some, good for others!

Maya's journey has inspired me to get my daughter into archery. It's still years away, but Maya and Frank have definitely started that stone rolling years ago.

This is most unfortunate. I would encourage all to respect other's comments, particularly if you have no particular expertise in the subject. This forum is weaker for his absence. I can only hope his has a change of heart and rejoins us at some point in the future.

I'll echo this. Z-71 hopefully you will reconsider if you're still reading.

Same, once we get moved, I'll be building an archery stand for her to practice at home.
They're building a new archery & gun range around the corner that we'll be checking out when it opens.
