I'm noticing a theme here, and the music's kinda catchy.
From my crotchety perspective, this may also be the only realistic way to get states like New York, Oregon and California to actually ban those practices.

Of the 6 remaining races, expect to get 4 more seats (Duarte, Kiley and Valadao of CA; Boebert of CO) at a minimum. That should reassure the doomers and gloomers.

I don't know how CA deals with congressional vacancies. Maybe the governor appoints an acting replacement until the next election. If it's up to Newsom, he'd likely do whatever Pelosi wants, and would be perfectly happy with her daughter getting it.
