Mine are "free". I sell extras for $1/dozen. I suppose I could charge more, but I don't need the money and it's a tax write-off so there's no need to screw my friends. I'll make it up in April.

At Walmart around here, a 12 pack of large Great Value eggs is $3.82 (31.8 cents each), and an 18 pack of large Great Value eggs is $5.63 (31.3 cents each).

Even though prices have doubled within the last year, ~31 cents per egg is still right about the cheapest source of quality protein out there. I eat a lot of eggs, and I don't forsee that changing even if prices continue to rise.

Luckily, I generally don't have to buy eggs as often. I have a good friend who had a bunch of chickens, ducks, and geese, and she keeps me stocked with extra eggs while they're laying, which is typically all but the coldest part of winter. That source accounts for ~50-60% of my eggs during most of the year. (And they taste way better than store bought too!)

An 18ct ext lg eggs at HEB in Plano was 5.69 on the 21st.

Funny I never buy 18 but when I arrived the dozen large was no more. Huge empty shelf with this 18 pack kinda right in the middle. All unbroken and really just perfect.

“Large” size were $6.69/dozen at the Porter’s Thriftway here, Saturday.

Additionally, bird flu does not make poultry or eggs unsafe to eat, according to the USDA.

"It shouldn't be a food safety concern," said Kean.

On the other hand, the loss of a large number of birds would likely continue to elevate the prices of poultry and eggs, at least temporarily, Kean added.

Perfect example of why I started raising quail again. If I had a larger household, it would be chickens, but for just me, quail are the perfect size. They only take up a 3' x5' space in the shed and I get a crap-ton of eggs for $6.69 worth of feed. The meat's pretty darn good too.

18ct grade A large eggs are going for roughly $6.25 to $6.70 at the local supermarket. In my area at least, food prices really spiked over the holidays.

Funny thing is, I still see (overpriced) eggs on the shelf. So, avian flu or not, it doesn't seem that it's a supply/demand issue. I'd guess it's the rising cost of supplying them to stores that's the issue (feed, gas for transport, cartons, etc...).

$5.99/dozen here for eggs at Fry's.

But are they worth the wear and tear on a hen's butt?

I used to do the food shopping during most of 2020 as the wife was pregnant and I didn’t want her going out if possible during the pandemic. I distinctly recall a dozen eggs at Aldi fluctuated from around $0.89 to $1.00 a dozen.

My wife now does her Aldi ordering online and then goes and picks up and the price for a dozen eggs from there this past week was $4.59

Last time to Costco, noticed that they had a sign on the eggs: "limit 2". Usually get the organic. Had relatives over for the holidays and used them all.

Costco today, no eggs...none. No organic, no omega 3, no bulk pack, no big ones no little ones....none. Asked a worker. "We're out".
