Intuit rarely misses a chance to raise prices.

$65 is still a bargain price-wise compared to paying someone do your taxes. Are you sure you bought the right version? There are plenty of free online tax services available so Intuit can’t just raise their prices.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Used Turbotax to file in April. A Turbotax bug forced me to mail paper returns. Today I found the IRS never received my return and will be sending a second copy tomorrow.

Been using H&R Block software for a few years and like it better than TT as it is more user friendly. I avoided the rush and finish and filed mine in Feb. Good luck on yours.

Years ago the IRS rule was that to mail stuff to them it had to be "Certified - Return Receipt". IE, the USPS could prove they delivered it, but the IRS required their own signature to confirm they received it". Otherwise, you could get charged a penalty for being late.

And thanks nhtag, this was a reminder that I have to pay my quarterly estimated taxes.

I have used H&R Block for the last 5 years. Amazon sells it for next to nothing early in the year. Intuit screwed up TT with the schedule D thingy and screwed up Quicken before selling it to a third party that made it work. No more Intuit for me.

Mother (95) and I have been using the senior tax service by AARP for several years. No complaints there. It's free. But covid shut them down this year. So I found a local tax preparer. Lucked out there. They are good people and they charged $40 only as there is a program to offset senior charges.
And I do not live in Mother's basement.
