nhtagmemberDid My Good Deed for the Week
Driving to Palm Springs today and was getting off the 10 to get a coffee. The semi in front of me took the exit and was going too fast. Ended up rolling the truck about 100 yards from the light.
Was first at the truck and took about 4 minutes to get the driver out through the windshield. Another driver stopped to assist. Fortunately he spoke Spanish.
Then found out there was another passenger and it took almost 10 minutes to get him out. Driver had no injuries, passenger had a sore back.
Took 20 minutes for police, fire and ambulance to arrive. Made a statement to the highway patrol and then went for my coffee.

old rugged cross20 mins. Wtf?
Over loaded? Have proper credentials and license's?
Hazmat?
Overturning on an exit off ramp seem's like poor driving for a qualified and experienced semi driver?

slosigIt happened in California. I know and have worked with several competent CA truck drivers. I have also had to deal with folks from a few companies who hire folks that don’t speak English, make minimum wage, and are probably overpaid at that. I can’t speak to the process for getting a commercial driver’s license (CDL) in CA, but for basic driver’s license, it certainly appears that fogging a mirror is the only required qualification. I wouldn’t assume that they ate significantly tougher on CDLs, though they certainly should be.

nhtagmemberMy first question to him after I got him out was to ask about what he was hauling. No hazmat according to him.
It took awhile because the responders were coming from Casa Grande. Exit 200 is just a truck stop exit before getting on I8

sigmonkeyGreg.
Dog ear fold the corner of this page you read today.
It will pop up when you least expect it.
So, be ready for it.
Take a breath, allow it the "news reel" to play.
Then contemplate it in the moment and realize it is all in your past.
You did all the things you knew and could.
You mattered.
Meant to be.

mcrimmYou were meant to be there. Providence. I have been first on the scene for at least 6 car wrecks in clouding a fatal, a few rollovers and other assorted crashes. Those don’t include the wrecks I was involved in. These seem to lessen as safety features in cars improve. Mike
