old rugged crosswood splitter hyd. Fluid.
My splitter say's dextron III or AW 10 wt. The fluid in it is a redish purple. I bought some napa 10 wt. RO and it is clear. I need to add some fluid. Can I mix the two or bad idea?
Looks like it has a atf fluid in it? Dextron III is no longer available. What should I add.

4MUL8RDEXRON III is an older credential. The improvements my former employer made over the years to create DEXRON VI focused on increasing durability, ensuring new seal material compatibility, increasing friction surface performance and longevity, and bringing up corrosion protection. The base stocks are better also.
But, with III so readily available, I would just use that. III is a higher viscosity fluid, offering more inherent film thickness.

trapper189I'm not positive, but I believe the 10 in AW 10 is ISO not SAE and they are not the same. ISO 32 is equivalent to SAE 10W in viscosity.
