Picked up the last of em yesterday evening. Couldn’t be happier. Back to work on Monday so fun time is over for now.

Family pic, one of these is not like the other!

Wife’s first gun, railless G48. She’s got baby hands.

Got a few to the range:

Banshee - Performed well except with Blaser Aluminum, I think it’s more the weak 10mm ammo than the case material though, was hitting steel at 100 with irons even though it was single shot mode. I’m big on mags and hate anything that isn’t reputable and reliable, was hesitant with the SGM 30 rounders but they are kinda the only game in town, having purchased a couple dozen I’m happy to say that they have not had a malfunction of any kind (save the aluminum Blaser) in 3 range trips, 2 prior to me arriving, and several hundred rounds. Definitely pleased so far.

P229 SSE - Newly shipped Barsto barrel took 8-10 weeks to arrive, dropped right in and gun performed flawlessly with 229-1 9mm mags, didn’t test any 40 mags. Gun shot 3” right at 10 yards, closer look at the front sight shows it off about 1/8” from center. Don’t have my sight tool here to that will be a Maryland fixer. 9mm in this pistol is a wee lil baby round, negligible recoil, very fun to shoot.

***As an aside, while I can often come off as quite critical, I’ll also fully give credit where it is due. Barsto was a fantastic company to do business with and one I’ll definitely look to first in the future, much like Hogue previously, they clearly stated time frames, didn’t over promise, delivered a fantastic quality product and their personal customer service was top notch considering all my contact info at time of purchase was Korean, they emailed me promptly and all was taken care of in 10 minutes with a nice lady on the phone, package received 2 days later. Cannot ask for more.

P220-10 Legion - The regular 2 work fine operating by hand in the room, so I took the Legion to try this new “upgraded” sig out. I won’t knock it, but I’ll definitely take a pass at any price increase over standard. No clear difference in trigger, and everything else is superficial. Mag on this one gets hung up on last 1/4 way of travel into pistol, and conversely won’t drop free either. Some distinct rub marks on the back half of magazine sides, so that will require some investigation. Still works well with a little extra help to get it to move but I want that fixed also.

Noveske 12.5” SBR - Sat for 8 years now, and ate everything I gave it. Lubed up prior and we got it smoking hot, that things just works.

Beretta 1301 - WoW, I’m not fast enough or strong enough to make this gun hiccup, it also performed flawlessly with various old low brass we were wanting to get rid of. And absolute beast to put 7 shots on something in 2 seconds if you can hold it steady. Definitely the most fun to shoot out of everything we brought, can’t help but smile. I think the T-1 might have a home on this thing.

Marlin 1895 - Nothing fancy here, little LPVO on it, 5 rounds had us on steel and in the 10 ring at 100 yards. Definitely an excellent choice for deer and well any other land based game on this continent! That round is an absolute beast. Some of em damn near made it through the steel.

*** Trijicon Accupower 1-4x - I know it’s bright in the Florida sun but only 1 setting allowed you to be certain there was illumination and even then it wasn’t much. The Kahles on the other hand was often too bright on my cousin’s model that has the single dot. I’d definitely pass on any of the used Accupower offerings you find. And I’m a huge Trijicon fan.

Larue 308 (Not Mine) - This one we struggled with, got it on paper at 50 and couldn’t get anything consistent at 100 yards, but we likely screwed ourselves having 3 people shoot it. We were having fun first and sighting in second, so we likely wasted quite a bit of ammo Smile

Pmags that have sat loaded for over a decade performed just fine, even after a reload. But I think we all know that to be the case these days anyway.

All in all it’s a hell of a way to spend a day in the clay pits drinking some beers with family.

Only casualties were two small pines and one beer can!

Nice! What type shotgun in the background? Hard to make it out, except for the Magpul stock.

Eah 1301, once I get em all back to Maryland and cleaned/lubed/modified, I’ll post some detailed photos. Got an even larger stack of accessories and large Tupperware of magazines to go through.

Cool!

Where were you staying that allowed you to get all that neat stuff?

I thought it would be cool if every pistol I bought last year came from Italy.

Turns out it was actually cheaper for me to buy it there and pay for shipping/customs/engraving/etc... than buy local.

Gotta dig it. FWIW, Blaser Aluminum has always been underpowered, dirty and not-so-accurate for me.

I hope you get plenty of time to get know all those goodies well!

Is the .308 LaRue an OBR?

If so, what barrel?

First ones were Walther Lothar and then they switched to their own factory made barrels shortly there after. (I own an early version (WL).) .75 MOA all day

Super tempted on that Beretta shotgun. A buddy of mine has a Bennelli M4 (technically, a M1014), but I'm leaning more towards the Beretta. They are cheaper, just as reliable, and cheaper to get parts/accessories for.

Been over a decade since I got my 228 Bar Sto barrel. Super accurate. Nothing but good things to say like you, they over delivered for sure. Wasn't a drop in though, required fitting for whatever that's worth. Very accurate. Surprisingly so, I hadn't seen that kind of thing in a pistol previously.

Some dam nice guns there sir. Hat tip to you.

Oh and the Larue, should be a good shooter. Hopefully it gets straightened out.

Okay 100% I agree that’s it’s the better choice having handled both now. No worries of cycling issues with lower-powered shot. Cheaper up front, cheaper and expanding aftermarket parts.

LIGHTER!!!!

I couldn’t recommend it enough, and if I were in the market for a second shotgun I’d simply buy another identical one.

Gentlemen,

I’m certain the 6-8 beers by the time we got to the Larue played a part Smile

I have no doubt it’ll be accurate. It’s my understanding that it’s a complete Larue upper and lower purchased separately. I don’t know it that excludes it from being an OBR or not but I’ll ask.

6-8 beers? You had barely greased the groove. At 10 you become 1 with the projectile and guide it in flight after it leaves the barrel. At 12, well you've seen the Matrix. Neo didn't just happen upon those powers. Morpheus was a Miller Lite drinker.

Sounds like that Larue is a UU. My understanding they still shoot. No first hand experience though.
