I ran across this video by Crowder.
Seems he has a health issue that he dances around about in this video. Says he’ll be back next year. Anyone know more?

Drugs?
Alcohol?
Other?

Closes what?

Your thread title is vague.

Well, if you watch the video, he doesn’t really dance around it, he says he was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and has some thyroid and autoimmune issues going on that he needs to travel to go see some specialists for treatment. So why speculate about drugs and alcohol? Everyone has a right to privacy with their health issues and I think he specifically addressed this absence to try to head off the exact speculating you’re doing.

"Crowder Closes" is a segment name of some of
his video commentaries.

It does not mean he is "closing" his Youtube channel or work.

You've gone from vague to misleading in your title. The channel isn't closing.

I did not know that. Thanks for clearing that up sigmonkey.

As for the health issues he took 8+ minutes mentioning fibromyalgia and thyroid issues, when he could have came straight out with it. Maybe that’s his style. Maybe he needed to fill some time. He went about it oddly in my opinion. I hope he is okay regardless.

Critizing him for trying to explain?

Why are you reading so much into it?

He mentioned those things pretty early in the video, the first few minutes, and the rest seemed to be reassurance that he's not burned out, not quitting, and that upgrades to the show will be happening during his break. He also spent at least two of those closing minutes thanking his sponsor Walther.

My apologies.
Please close or lock the thread.

I thought some here might be interested to know he has some issues.

I’ll refrain from commentary next time.

How is insinuating drug or alcohol use into something commentary? You seem to have watched a different video than everyone else.

Try decaf?

No kidding. The way that guy cranks out solid content, I can't begrudge him a month off to look after his health.

Oh, and for anyone that doesn't feel like sitting through the video, he adamantly and repeatedly says he'll be back on Jan 2nd. That is "next year," but it's also only a few weeks away.

At 1:22 he says "back by the 2nd week of January". He mentions "after new years" a short time earlier than that.

A close friend of mine has fibromyalgia. I'm somewhat familiar with its diagnosis and treatment based on seeing my friend deal with it for 20+ years. But I'm obviously not a doctor and don't understand all the different aspects of it.

Crowder also mentions thryroid issues, which could be a differential diagnosis to fibromyalgia if I understand the terminology and diagnosis correctly. Stress can also be a cause of fibromyalgia, but he adamantly rules that out.

People sometimes deal with the pain of fibromyalgia by using drugs (opiods) and alcohol. Thus my comments in the OP - based on my mail order medical degree. Also, he starts out this episode by saying he has been a hypocrit based on some recent life advice segments. Thus my comments in the OP about drugs and alcohol.

Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are treated by medicines and in the worst case by removal of the thyroid. Perhaps one of our docs can chime in on that.

My dad has thyroid issues (hyper or hypo) and a close friend of mine has fibromyalgia. Based on my observations of each, Crowder's story seems odd to me. Maybe he is the type that feels he is less of a man because he has some health issue. Or maybe he is just being overly dramatic - just get a prescription and move on like millions of others.

He could have just said he has fibromyalgia and is taking time off. Then move on to talk about Walther firearms as a sponsor.

I have CRTV and watch Louder with Crowder every day.
I saw his last show and was not alarmed that anything major was there.
Everyone has issues and should be allowed to fix them.
He is only 30 so I wouldn't be so worried.
YMMV

PS Love his vids. Cool

I’ve been enjoying his videos a lot lately. The “Change my mind” stuff is great. He’s a skilled debater, & funny as can be. I eagerly await his return.
